    Setting up the Xbox One without being able to connect it to the internet.


    I am presently at University and we have the kind of internet where you must open a browser and log into to gain a connection because of this I am unable to do the initial setup on m Xbox One. My University's support page said to do the USB OS update install
    on this page

    and that once installed it would allow me to do the initial setup without having to select an internet connection to proceed. However I am still being required to choose a wired or wireless connection which I cannot do.

    I tried the official Microsoft support and sadly they were 100% useless and kept telling me to contact my ISP to allow access for the console which I cannot do.

    Whatever happened to the Day One update that allowed for offline setup? I asked the support guy and again he was sadly entirely useless and simply said "Games like the Xbox One require an internet connection to function."

    installation locks up.

    I went to console settings and restored my xbox one to factory defaults. once I did this, I went through intial set-up again, After I finished initial set-up, I disconnected the xbox-one from the internet( before I tried to install a game). then
    without being connected to the internet I was able to install nba214 without issue. I took about 20min. I plan to install all the games I bought before reconnecting to the internet.

    Internetless Xbox One

    Do not leave personal information on a public forum. The person you are setting the xbox one up for will be able to use the system without internet.

    I discovered it if anyone has this issue at a University after failing to connect choose "Let's Fix It" after failing to fix the solution choose to manually set up your internet connection choose wired or wireless choose the connection you desire it will
    fail to do a connection and fix test again however this time you will be brought to a page where you can edit your connection settings. On this page you will be able to see your wired and wireless MAC address using this you should be able to manually register
    the Xbox either through your Universities website or the IT department.

    Really hope this is helpful to anyone that was in my position!

    You will not be able to download any add-ons without being connected to the internet. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there's no way around it.

    Heya!

    According to the
    requirements     for use of the OneGuide a connection to Xbox live is required which in turn requires an internet connection.

    Thus you would not be able to use this feature properly without a connection.

    Please give us the choice to OPT-IN to your 24 hr check in for those of us that want the future.

    That's a good point that seems to have been overlooked.

    The whole 24hr check in was dropped so people without access to broadband for whatever reason could now also play on the new console. Having to do an online initial set up of the console kinda makes that pointless and still leaves those without internet
    connection not being able to buy an Xbone.
