    Setting up new Xbox One, but initial update won't install


    I just got the Xbox One today, took it out of the packaging and began setting it up. Right after the automatic wireless controller setup, I connected to my wireless router successfully and then proceeded to a necessary update right away. An issue keeps happening,
    which says "There was a problem with the update." Since the Xbox One is in the middle of its initial setup, I can't even access the menu screen or anything else. I've been on hold with Xbox customer support for 41 minutes and counting. This is really starting
    to get me mad, which makes me feel bad since it's Christmas day, but when the product is advertised as flawless and customer service barely exists, anger should be understandable.

    Does anyone have a solution to this problem, because I really don't want to do this offline flash drive download to a BRAND NEW XBOX ONE. This is ludicrous and shouldn't be happening to a product that costs such a significant amount of money.

    hooked up to internet says connected won't install initial update comes up check internet connection this is all fine just won't do update

    I am having the exact same issue and its getting me really frustrated. I've never owned a playstation before, but my return receipt is looking pretty tempting right now

    Having the same problem. This is very frustrating. I really hope Microsoft has some type of compensation plans for this extreme inconvenience. This really put a damper on the kids Christmas. Very bad service on such an important day!!

    Having the same problem. This is very frustrating. I really hope Microsoft has some type of compensation plans for this extreme inconvenience. This really put a damper on the kids Christmas. Very bad service on such an important day!!

    I don't think the other people who replied understand what you are asking because I'm having the same problem. My brand new Xbox One S is going to sleep/turning off DURING the straight out the box initial set up update. Not AFTER it's fully downloaded the
    update and it auto restarts. And when I turn the Xbox one back on, the initial set up update starts over. You can't get to the settings yet to set it to download even when the console is off/sleep because it can't get past the initial set up update. Nobody
    has time to sit in front of the TV for hours, wiggling the controller sticks every 5 mins to keep the controller/Console from going to sleep partially through the Initial setup update and having to start over. It's been 3 days and I haven't been able to play
    one single game yet on my new Xbox One S. Is there any way to prevent this?

    Xbox one s won’t connect to Seagate

    I have a similar issue following the last update. I had a Seagate 5TB hooked up during the update with all my games installed on it and now the Xbox One (Day One Edition) won't detect it. I tried every USB port, I've switched out the power adaptor and
    USB cables, hard and soft resets, and cycling the Xbox power setting for storage in the "Instant-on" options.

    I've even tried hooking it up to my laptop but it only registers the initial connection and then stops detecting the drive altogether.
