Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. These are great questions! The Xbox Family is the best method to manage child accounts. An adult account will be the one to regulate the entire family settings. Family settings allow Xbox users to manage
purchase authorization, content access and even screen time. The
Xbox Family Support website has several different articles for all types of issues or questions with the family settings. We can suggest a few of them to get started. We recommend using your Microsoft account in order to set up the family. If you do not
have a Microsoft account, it is possible to
create one on our website. Once the account is ready to go, we recommend using the article entitled

Add a New Member to Your Family in order to set up the family. The
Online Safety and Privacy Settings is where a parent can manage the family settings. Adding a child's account to a family will not affect subscriptions or saved data. Be sure to let us know the results!

Yes to both of your follow up questions. By creating a new "parent" account for yourself, you can set your old account up as a "child" account under your "family" settings at
account.microsoft.com/family and then set their screen time/content limits. The name of the old account can be changed, but there is a fee when it comes to gamertag changes,
just so you are aware. The other thing to consider is the old account's connections. If the email for the old account is a Microsoft outlook email you use, your child will be inheriting your email account, as well. (Don't share your email address here.)

Unfortunately, screen time can only be set to a child account, okay? Adult accounts cannot have screen time set on it. The only way to set up screen time for your son, would be to create a child account for him, and setting up up time limits on his account, okay? I hope you understand.
