  1. Setting up child account

I am trying to set up my child on his own account so I set up a parent account and I got to where I have to pay 50 cents on a U.S based credit card. Problem is that we are from Canada. Is there another way to do this if you are from Canada?

    Thanks!

    :)

Microsoft gives the parents the control over what their kids play, you go into settings, and you can set up the child settings and restrict what ratings for movies, tv shows, music, and games can be accessed by the child account. If you want your child to play a game that's rated M, then set it to that. Want the child restrictions turned off, then do that. The power is in your hands.

Thanks, That's alot more straightforward than Sony's Parental Controls.

  4. Setting up child account

    Hey there TopMussel373457,

It sounds like the parent account or the child account you're making is not set for the correct region. You'll need to ensure that the parent account is set to Canada, if it's not you can migrate the region using

    this guide
    .

If you're still seeing issues after doing that, you'll want to contact the chat/phone teams for some additional help. You can contact Official Xbox Support through either the live chat option (if available) or phone team
    HERE.

    Hope that helps!

  5. I'm dealing with this situation too, and having a lot of problems. I have verified that my region is set to Canada, and I already have a Canadian credit card on my account, so the only thing I can think of is that maybe my son's account that I am trying
to approve somehow got set to US? The thing is, in order to be able to check or change any settings for his account, I have to approve it first! But I can't approve it if the system thinks he's in the US and wants a US credit card. So basically in order to
approve it, I have to migrate it to Canada, but in order to migrate to Canada, I have to have approved it first!

I checked the guide linked to in the reply and it was no help - it says that in order to migrate your account to a new region, you have to enter a credit card from the new region first! But the whole problem is that it won't let you enter a non-US credit
card in the first place, so how could that possibly work?

Maybe the best thing to do would be to just delete his account and create a new one - except I also can't delete it without approving it! And I can't just create a new one because it says his e-mail address is already being used by an existing account (i.e.
the one it won't let me approve).

This is incredibly frustrating... Surely there has to be some way to solve it?

  6. Update: I ended up just creating a new e-mail account for him and setting up a new account using that, so now he has a working account. But it would be really nice if there was a better way of handling these things, that didn't involve having to give up
and keep track of an entirely separate e-mail account just to fix a region problem...

Is your account set up as a child account? Those messages sound like they relate to child account settings.

If you do have a child account, those settings will need changing in the adult account it is associated with.

You can set these limits by creating a child account for the person you're setting limits for. Set up a family account and link the child to it.
