Setting up an account for my son problem...

Well I was trying to set up an Xbox live free account for my boy to be able to have his profile available online for the many Xbox systems we play on...

I first tried on his box, through an offline profile he's been using and it told my to use the computer instead because of his age.

I created him a hot mail, which cost me 50 cents to confirm, but still couldn't sign in on his offline profile.

So I set it all up though my phone online, but now he has a whole new profile that doesn't have his achievements or game saves available to him....this has been a very frustrating process, and from what I have read I know have to start over which means new
email and I just want to know if there is a easy solution? Or where did I go wrong with trying to tie his offline profile to his new email??

JPMacca747, if you are having a support issue, please create a new thread so that we can assist you there. it is generally best not to revive a 2 year old thread that has likely been resolved by now (in this case Account Region Migration is now possible).

I have the same problem with the region of the child's account is not the same as the parent's region. The difference is that I'm in Canada and not the UK (I came across the forum by searching). My billing region is Canada, the region on my console is
Canada, the regions showing on the profiles are Canada.

I see that someone fixed the problem by changing the extension on their email address. Both my son's email address and the parental address are using .ca, which is Canadian so that won't work for me.

Are there any other suggestions?

 

Hey there!

Sorry to hear you are having this problem. What I recommend is to sign in to your sons offline account on the console and press the guide button and select "Join Xbox Live" there it will ask you to add an email address as your Microsoft account.

Follow the on screen instructions and you should be able to keep your sons same achievements, the only thing that is going to change is the GamerTag, but other than that you should be able to have a live account on your sons old offline account.

If you encounter any issues just call phone support at 1-800-4MYXBOX and they should be able to help you out.

Just tell them you want to make an offline profile into an online profile.

But his email address is already tied to a new profile...it gives me the email is tied to another account error...

 

Then you would have to use a new email address.. a different one than the one you were going to originally use.

you can close the other account however it takes 30 days for a Microsoft account to be completely close.

You could probably try again to add that email address to your sons account on day 31.
