Setting TV on top of Xbox One X

Hi, will it cause any issues with my console if i set my TV on top of it sitting horizontally? I have my TV on a dresser and there is no more room on the surface of the dresser and it would overheat if I put it in a drawer.

I have At&t U-verse Set-top Box connected to XBOX one X through HDMI in and HDMI out to Samsung TV. I also have optic audio out from XBOX one X to a Yamaha AVR. When the Set-top Box goes to sleep and I try to turn on the TV again
I lose the TV sound and I have to turn the XBOX off and then on to get the sound back. The XBOX one X is sit to to to TV when it turn on. This also happen when I watch movie on XBOX or play games. I exchanged XBOX but I still have the same problem. I had a
google TV box hooked the same way I hooked the XBOX before and I did not have this problem

Seeing as the One X vents is on the sides it shouldn't be an issue.

But i would personally not do it, i will try and keep anything of the console as far as i possibly can without blocking the vents.

 

It should be ok, providing there is still plenty of ventilating around it.

The X was designed so they could be stacked on to off each other, however the weight of the TV might be too much so be careful.

 

As others have said, ventillation should be fine but personally I would get a small plastic stand (something should be found in the Tupperware aisle of WalMart) so the tv can sit above and not on the console. With the shell of the system warming and cooling
during play I would be concerned with it possibly cracking with weight on it.

 

What make it a confusing discussion. Maybe i can explain it a little bit easier for you.

I guess it depends on how big or how heavy your TV is. As others have stated, the Xbox One X doesn't vent out of the top (Xbox One and One S do AFAIK), so having something on top of it shouldn't affect the console in that way.

Personally speaking, I would only consider this as an option if the TV was quite lightweight.

• Place the console on a stable surface.
• Do not place the console on speakers or subwoofers.
• The console should be in a well-ventilated, relatively cool place and
  away from direct heat sources.
• The space should be uncluttered.
• Do not put other objects on, under, or right next to the console.
  • For example, don’t put an object on the top right of your Xbox One console. This may block the vents and cause your console to overheat.
