    I can't believe the ridiculous process my 9yo and I are going through to try and play the Xbox one.

    - it has taken 2 hours just to set be able to insert a game, including downloading an update (there are absolutely NO instructions provided) so for most steps we had to search online. The Xbox site is useless as it only has a screenshot of what you can see
    on your screen and no "how to"

    eg: setting a passcode, we could find NO way to set any number, instead repeatedly pressing one button on the control pad finally set a passcode ... I cannot see or find the number).

    - I inserted the game halo 5 ... it asked to update (35 odd gigabytes), after 4 reboots (download failed) finally finished, we went to play and it required yet another update (why?), this time 45 gigabytes.. Over 3 hours since turning the console on ...
    still nothing to play. At this point I was ready to take the whole set, games etc back to the store & get a refund to buy something else...

    - after finally working out where the eject button was we inserted Minecraft. Predictably another update, this time 900 megabytes.

    - over 4 hours in, my 9yo finally got 15 minutes of gameplay.

    - however we still can't add in the extra console for a second player, so only 1 player.

    - I have set it up to download the additional halo 45 gb, if that fails I'm taking everything back to the shop.

    I am absolutely staggered at how hard this has been (& I consider myself reasonably tech savvy). Why is it sooo hard? I see all the similar comments on sites where we found some answers and why has Microsoft done nothing to fix them (eg: entering date of
    birth, passcode, adding second player etc..?)

    Where can I find answers (other than the useless Xbox website) & why are no basic instructions provided? I mean how hard is it to provide a few pages with step by step set up guide and how to set passcodes, insert a date of birth, add a second player etc..??

    Screen time set up

    I want to set this feature up so I can limit game time for my son. I have only one account on the console which is mine, this was done so it would be easier to track his usage.

    I need help setting the new feature up but it seems that it can only be done by creating my son his own email address which I assume would create another user account on the console. That would mean that he would lose all of his progress, game save and
    friends.

    Why can we not have the old xbox360 settings? Why does microsoft have to make everything so complicated? I dont need something that will limit his account screen time because he would just jump to my account I need something that will turn the console
    off after a pre determind time, is it that hard?

    I am not holding my breath for a reply but it would be nice!!!

    Set up issue

    Hi Vivisdel10, my name is Oskayra and it will be a pleasure to help you.

    I tell you in advance so that there are no misunderstandings, this is a public user to user support forum. We are users who help other users. We do not work for Microsoft.

    There are several reasons why this could be happening. One possibility is that the system update has been damaged. If so, you will have to perform a system without connection.

    Another possibility is that there is a problem with console hardware. If so, you will have to get in touch with Microsoft's support to get help.

    If you have tried all these steps and you can not solve the problem, you can try the following steps:

    Make a system without connection. To do this, you will need a USB unit with at least 8 GB of free space. Follow these steps:

    Download the last system update from the Microsoft website.

    Copy the update file in the USB unit.
    Connect the USB unit to the Xbox Series X console.
    Turn off the console.

    Stay pressured the match and expulsion buttons for 10-15 seconds.

    The console will begin in the update mode.

    Select "Update from a storage device."
    Follow the on -screen instructions to complete the update.

    If you have performed a system without connection and you still cannot solve the problem, you can get in touch with the Microsoft support to get help.

    Set up issue

    Are you using a wired or wireless internet connection?

    Try a wired connection (ethernet cable) to your network hardware and restart the console. It should connect and do the required OS update.

    If wireless choose a factory refresh of the console. After the refresh is complete, input the console setup details again.

    Setup new Series X S has further details.

    You have to press the Xbox button in the centre of the controller until it lights up.

    Also you will have to connect it up to the internet eventually, as it will have quite a large download to update the OS.

    The best section for a feature like this may be our
    Home, Xbox Guide, and Settings     section. However, I am happy to share that shortly after your post was made, a family timer feature was introduced! Parents who have child accounts can now set screen time limitations through our
    Microsoft Family page. Be sure to be signed into the parent account to set those limitations.
