    Set Up Questions

I posted this in the "General Discussion" forum, and it was suggested that I post it in this forum to get more responses.

I am getting my XBox One this week, and I have some general questions about set up, etc. I have the following components:

    TV: 60" Panasonic Plasma (60ZT60)

Audio: Bose Cinemate GS Series II

    Remote: Logitech Harmony 900

    DirecTV Satellite Box: Genie HR34

    Media Player: KDLinks HD700

Current Setup: I have the Genie and Bose Interface Module (Small box that receives remote signals) on the open shelf and everything else inside the closed doors of our entertainment center, and I plan to keep it that way if at all possible. I have one mini
IR Blaster under the TV to hit it and one on the open shelf that hits the Genie and Bose Module. We have the "Blaster Hub" inside the cabinet and it hits the Bluray player and our Media Player.

    Questions:

    1. Does the DirecTV work flawlessly with the OneGuide? Is there any picture degradation at all? Does anyone have a similar set up and have any suggestions, comments, etc?

    2. Does anyone use a Harmony Remote with a similar set up? Any suggestions on that set up? Should I let the XBox control turning the TV on and off?

    3. Regarding our current setup described above, if I just swap out the Bluray player for the XBox and keep everything else the same, will that work? I have read that the XB1 really needs a Mini Blaster applied directly over the IR Sensor. Is this true?
If I manage TV Power through the XBox, could I move that Mini Blaster inside the Cabinet directly on the XB1? I imagine for input changing and TV menu adjustments, I would then have to make sure remote is pointed at TV? Again, any suggestions or comments
regarding Harmony Remote and IR Blaster set up would be greatly appreciated.

    4. Kinect Location. Our Entertainment Center is 32" tall and our TV is a little over 3 feet tall (with stand), which means if we put the Kinect on top of the TV, it would be at just under 6 feet. Is this okay? I read on the XBox site that it recommends
anywhere between 2 and 6 feet, but when sitting on our coach, it just seems like that would be really high. Thoughts?

    5. Netflix. Easier to set up through XBox or through TV? The wife watches a lot of Netflix when I am gone, so I just want to make sure it is as simple as possible for her.

Thanks for any and all assistance you can provide. I just want to have everything in mind already when setting this up, and also be as simple as possible for the Mrs. I tried to look up a lot of this stuff, but it seems most everything people post about
these topics is negative, and they are also pretty dated. Thanks again.

    :)

  2. Set up Question

Hi there that wouldnt be a great idea the console needs to be in a well ventilated area to avoid overheating. As well as it needs to remain horizontal.

Netfilx on Xbox One is dead simple to use and it loads considerably quicker than it does if I watch it through Virgin Tivo.

Can't really answer much for you apart from the Kinect question. I have a large flattered entertainment centre, my Kinect is around 5ft off the floor and works fine. As long as you calibrate it properly you shouldn't have an issue.

I was about to say something similar, Seider - having the Xbox near the fireplace, AND having the TV hanging on the chimney above the fireplace is definitely not recommended. There have been issues in the past with TV's mounted on chimneys where the TV experiences
much faster wear-and-tear and ultimately wears out much sooner than it should, and it is traced back to the amount of heat put out by the fireplace, and specifically through the chimney. As much of a hassle as it might be, I might suggest locating your TV
and devices somewhere else... far away from open flames.... :)

If it has that kind of effect on the TV, I can't imagine it would be good for any other peripheral devices hooked to the TV. Hope this helps!
