Set top box on and off only at the same time than the Xbox ?

Hi!

During the configuration of my TV box, the Xbox showed that it could crearly turn it on and off.

Is there a command (voice or not) to do it at anytime ?

Because I don't want my TV box to be always on and I thought that launching the TV app would send the "on" signal to my box (as quitting the app would turn it off, or witch its state)

Am I missing something or am I forced to use the remote for those actions, and that would be a shame ?

HDMI Input not working | Xbox One S

It is my Uverse set-top box. In trouble shooting I plugged that same HDMI cable directly into another port on my tv and have had 0 issues with the set-top box in weeks. It's only experiencing issues with the Xbox One S. It's also the same box and HDMI cable
that I used with my Xbox One since release day and I never had any issues.

TV pass through doesn't work after Xbox has been off in instant on mode (black screen). Turning the Xbox completely off to power saving mode fixes it every time. Inconvenient though.

My understanding of how it works is that once set up, turning on the Xbox will turn everything you have set to switch on will turn on / off.

It doesn't turn the set top box on when you start the app, for me if that was the way it worked I would get a delay while the TiVo box warms up.

I'm sure I saw something on the smartglass BETA app that you could chose to turn off/on individual devices, I can't check that at the moment though, at work.

Using Smartglass to do so would seem like using the remote, needing something else than the X1.

I had not thought of the boxes that could take time to get on, but a way, through the TV app, to send those command would be nice (like "Xbox turn on/off TV", or in the app menu).

Or a setting so that the TV app would send such a command : people like you would keep turning it on at the same time as the X1, but people like me would be able to turn it on/off anytime.

Just an idea then ...

No problem, You're right it would be the same as using the remote, i think i was thinking that if the smartglass could switch off the devices independently, then the ability for the X1 is there they would just need to implement it for voice or in the settings.

It's not a bad idea, maybe the xbox team will pick up on it?
