Set on the Xbox One! But I have one gripe/concern.

I've heard stories of people taking like an hour to finish installing games, which sounds pretty sad/lame. Microsoft recently commented on this issue (I believe), so maybe it'll be fixed in an upcoming update? But anyway, there's no reason why it takes several
minutes to install games when it is done in a few seconds on the competition's hardware.

I mean, I can just do other stuff, but I just think that an 8th gen console in the year of 2014 should be able to do this much better.

Note that I've owned a PS3 before, so I'm used to slow installs, I just am scared by the stories of a game taking an hour to install and stuff.

Hey Raging... Oh, I totally agree, so I look at it like this... I've got a concern, I COULD come to the Xbox One General Discussion forum and voice my concern and get attacked for it as has been happening... Or realise (for the US read: realize) that it's
not worth it to try to do this, and just keep it to myself.

I don't go looking to rain on anyone's parade on the "Those looking forward to the Xbox One" positive threads, but somehow I get raged at for voicing one concern on the appropriate type of thread. I only have one concern, but it's just not worth it to try
to discuss it rationally and civilly due to the agro here.

This shouldn't even be a big concern just find something else to keep you occupied until the installation is complete. Some games even allow you to play before it's completely installed. Also even if the PS4 installs games from the disk quicker, I highly
doubt it does it in a few seconds.

 

I remember a Spectrum 48K, when you had to load games in everytime you played them and that took longer than most installs I have done on the Xbox one. As with the spectrum you could always watch the loading screen while you wait.

 

Your internet speed will have some say as well...it is not all on the console. I have pretty good speed, see some sob stories on here from time to time. Have to wonder what their true internet is like when they claim hours to download and I am playing in
twenty minutes or less (you can often start playing when 40% or less is downloaded)...there is variability and there are many factors that come into play.

Well, Kotaku did a comparison thing on the installs. The PS4 did Need for Speed Rivals in under a minute, the XB1 took a few minutes. I don't mind waits in the 5-10 minute range though.

Anyways, I have good internet (I'd say), so I don't think it'll be a problem.

So guys, what games are the most active on the Xbox One? I wanna make some gaming buddies when I get the console.

 

At present Destiny is up there, next month who knows.

EA access is a cheap way to get some good games to play while your thinking about it.

Don't forget you need Gold membership to play online including Destiny.

 

Halo is gonna be crammed, so will Call of Duty. There are loads of people on Destiny every day as well.

Now, how are third party games on the Xbox One, performance wise? Do they run well?

 

I agree with everyone that install times shouldn't be a concern. If one is taking too long, I just switch on the 360 and play that for awhile.

About the multi-plat games, now I can only comment on the Xbox One as I don't own any other current gen consoles, but just about everyone game, like Watch Dogs, Wolfenstien, Assassin Creed etc. have been flawless for me. Especially the online modes, wow
are they an improvement from the 360, smooth, I hardly lag or drop out and just overall impressed.

Whether or not they play better on another console is inconsequential to me, as I just want them to work, not get the best graphical experience or whatever.

It isn't a big deal, but on PS4 most games do install in seconds, most under a minute. Shadow of Mordor installed in about 15 seconds.

If you have a disc copy of a game, you can disconnect yourself from the network, then install the game itself. You will need to be connected to download the online portion of the game, but it is a bit faster from what I have noticed
