Service Alert 7/31/2014

A service alert was issued July 31st 2014.

Xbox Live Service Status | Xbox Live Service Outage

It involves an issue when trying to launch a game or app. The screen will go black and the system will "hang" and not do anything.

Have no fear. While the folks at microsoft fix the issue the immediate fix is simple. UNPLUG YOUR ROUTER! The system will work

fine if you do this. (I know because i tested it.) Any game that you've downloaded or have the disc for will work as normal. Any video

that you've downloaded and have on your hard drive will be watchable. Streaming videos will not work at this time. (At least for me

they didn't work. Netflix, HBO Go, YouTube.) But unplugging the router yielded functionality.

Xbox one keeps signing me out

Above was posted on 12/31 @ 7:05pm central time, not on 1/1 @ 1:05am wtf?? Typed this twice too because i lost connection again. There should be a core service alert. But there isnt which is bs. Its now 7:29pm.

So its a problem with xbox live? If i load the game with my router unplugged and then plug it back in,will i be playing online or offline?

I am having a problem with matchmaking. I keep trying to play gta 5 and it won't connect to live, every time I try it says live unavailable. Every time I power cycle my router and system it doesn't seem to help. I run my connection text and it says matchmaking
is down. Can anyone shed light? This has been going on for better part of a week.

 

I haven't tried playing any online game. Superstar55 nj suggests plugging the router back in after

the game is loaded. Out of curiosity i unplugged the router and loaded youtube. Then plugged it back

in after the program had loaded. But all i got was "a connection to xbox live is required" etc, etc.

I think the problem is with xbox live itself. It's odd because i can see my friends online when the

problem first started. I don't see them now, but that can be because they aren't online. Another thing

is the xbox app on my smartphone tells me if they are online and the last time they were online.

So there is some limited functionality. Kanismajor can you play gta 5 offline? I don't have that game

so i don't know. Must you play it online or is there an offline mode? I'll look into matchmaking right now.

 

The system appears to be back up and running normally!
