Server down for one Gamertag but not another?

There is no policy on inactive gamertags.

They released a load when they shut down the servers on the xbox but a lot of people snapped them up to sell them.

Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live so there is no way to know if a gamertag is in use or not.

As a rule,if it says a gamertag is unavailable then you will not be able to use it unless the user free's up that tag by choosing another.

Changing gamertags willn't affect any games what so ever, EA games are known for their game servers to be down or server maintenances.

you can check those game servers to see if they are down or under maintenance.

You could be right, the last time the servers were down in December 2021, there was a thread here in Microsoft support which is why I created another one now.

I also hope Microsoft wouldn’t do such a **** move like shutting down the AVP servers without notice.

I have been looking for a gamer tag to switch to and have come up with a couple cool ones but are sadly taken by inactive accounts which are not in use. I was curious if microsoft could free up these gamertags in the next update. Gamertags include
Goated, Ghost, Garfield, Baba Yaga.

In my 15 years ive only seen them free up gt once

They've done 2 mass releases of dormant gamertags,one when the original xbox live servers were shut down & another about 2 or 3 years ago,but they've changed how things work now so it's highly unlikely they will do anymore.

Another thing to remember is that gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live,so you have no way of knowing whether a gamertag is in use or not.

There's still another account on the servers with the SvmmyTvlhv gamertag, so you will have numbers added.
