Seriously? Can't revert to silver.

My gold just ran out and I just want to convert to silver but it won't even let me do that. Only options are "update payment information" or "play offline", you would assume "play offline" meant "convert to silver", but it doesn't. Just kicks me offline,
can't see my friends list or even access my DLC/Games I've purchased from Xbox live. So basically Microsoft is telling me I have to pay 10$ a month to play a game I've already purchased....offline? If this is the case I'll just go sell my xbox right now. This
is beyond infuriating.

If your card is attached to an active gold account, it can't be removed until the account reverts to silver.

How are you trying to revert your account to silver? It automatically reverts back when your gold subscription ends.

 

Little update, noticed I have 11 dollars on my account, figured I'll just use that to get a month and cancel the subscription, but everytime I try it just says "there was a problem with your payment option" (On the xbox) and It's just greyed out on xbox.com,
I can even see it as an option under payment options but I cannot click it. Just wtf. I swear Microsoft designs xbox live to frustrate and infuriate people.

 

Well apparently, I was charged on 6/14 for gold even though my card had no money on it (a card I no longer use), even though it's a month-to-month subscription (seems like it should've ended last month when the charge was declined, then converted to silver...)
I was able to keep using live until today when it was declined a second time. And now in order to un-suspend my account I have to pay 19.99 (this and last months) just to convert to silver (in August). I'm not paying anything when all I wanna do is convert
to silver....

TL; DR

Microsoft are greedy ***, and I'm switching to sony.

Sorry to hear that you're upset. However, when you purchase an online membership from the dashboard it is set to automatically renew unless you turn it off. If you choose to not turn off the auto renewal you will be charged for the membership. If you
do not have the funds to pay then your account will be blocked and you will not be able to purchase or add any items to your account until the amount is paid.

This can only be resolved via phone support.

 

Yea so what about situations like in my case. my son signed me up used his credit card pulled the subscription renewal so they wouldn't charge him and it never went away. we thought all was good now I cant revert to silver, his card was charged and there
is STILL a pending 19.xx USD past due on my account that is forbidding me from doing anything with my XBL Account. what is up with these people and why haven't they fixed this issue in all the years they have been operating XBL you would think they would actually
give two minutes of thought to not *** their customers over.

 

For future reference it would be better to create a new thread detailing your issue instead of bumping older ones.

However, the terms of the purchase are clearly stated and it is mentioned when the purchase is made that if you don't want it auto renewed then you will need to turn it off yourself. You are responsible for your account and all purchases made on it.

If you want to turn off the auto renewal now you'll need to contact phone support to do so and you will also need to pay off the existing balance before you can add or purchase anything on that account.

Perhaps you should get your son to do this for you with his credit card seeing as he's the one who put you in this predicament.
