Seriously, be careful of what you say

This is going to seem like a given to a lot of people, which is understandable but I just want to give my take, as I have been banned, and figured I’d share what I’ve learned since then, as it may be helpful to other people.

1. Surround yourself with the right people. I myself did not do this, resulting in things happening that could have easily been avoided. Surrounding yourself with good people will help with you remaining humble and nice to other people while playing on Xbox live.

2. Messages. It’s safe to say that if you do want to smack talk someone, you most definitely should not do it through messages, I learned this the hard way. If you wish to trash talk someone, which you shouldn’t in the first place, don’t do it on messages, you are basically just asking for a com ban.

3. Party chat. Party chat isn’t safe either really, as if you have a certain type of recording software people can catch you saying things in party chat aswell, wether it be simple trash talk or racist/ homophobic things, just don’t do it, simple.

4. Streamers. As much as the urge to see yourself from a streamers point of view is intriguing, just don’t do it, this is what resulted in my ban, although I know what streamer did this, I am unsure of what I actually said to him. One word that you say, can easily be taken, and bam! Banned. I’m not here to say streamers have it easy being able to ban whoever they want, but just be weary, as even if they don’t care to bother reporting you for being toxic or stream sniping in its own, you bet their chat will be more than happy to. So just don’t stream snipe, and if you do coincidentally get into a streamers game, just play the game out as if they are a normal player. Again I know this seems like “no really could you be any more obvious” to most people, I just want to tell people this who may not be as keen to this as others.

5. The games you play. It’s safe to say all games have different communities than others, a prime example would be comparing chess, and call of duty *im not sure if chess is on xbox*. Chess, has little if any trash talk, whereas call of duty’s community tends to be based on the toxicity. Now I know enforcement can’t keep tabs on every person who trash talks in game, as most people won’t go out of there way to bother recording it or reporting them in game, but it’s when you take the trash talk out of game, and do it in messages or party chat, where you can get in trouble, I also am to blame for this, I have taken things out of context from games and messaged people about it and gotten reported for it, *pretty stupid on my part I know*, but long story short just keep trash talking in game, no need to get heated in game, then com banned, that just ads fuel to the fire.

Conclusion: I’m not here to plead my case or try and make myself seem like a better person after saying all of this. I can just say that out of the 6 years I had Xbox I have learned a lot, although it’s safe to say that getting banned has taught me a lesson, you really gotta be careful of what you say. I hadn’t bothered every time I got com banned to correct how I acted, and hadn’t worried about getting permanently banned whatsoever, until I had the rude awakening that actions have consequences. Wether you have been com banned, once, multiple times or maybe even none, just make sure you are always keeping yourself in check. One thing I’ve always learned is talk like your grandma is watching you, really helps, trust me
