  1. Serious External Hard Drive Issues for Xbox One

Just bought a WD My Passport Ultra 2TB drive. While playing games they will crash and the system is no longer seeing the drive. The drive will also disappear occasionally while installing games to it. I have tried all of the fixes people have mentioned
on here such as: different usb ports, resetting Xbox, plugging console into its own wall jack, etc. I went to the WD website and downloaded their firmware updater for their drives. The drive was already running the latest firmware. I've used my PC to scan
the drive for bad sectors and come up empty (takes all day on a 2TB drive). The drive works fine on my PC but is useless for the Xbox One which is where I need it.

  2. I'm having the same issue as a number of people on this thread and it is very frustrating. I have a Toshiba 1.5TB USB 3.0 drive hooked up to my brand new Sunset Overdrive white console. In the last week, it has started repeatedly saying "External Storage
Ready" every few seconds. I can't play a game stored on the external drive, but I am able to slowly download new purchases to it. I've tried hooking the drive up to every USB port on the Xbox One, but nothing is solving the problem. I've also tried using
a Y connector for the drive, but it didn't solve the issue. Not sure what to do now.

  5. I have a Samsung M3 2TB external hard drive. I've copied my games over but I'm noticing issues. It keeps seemingly temporarily disconnecting and crashing me back to the home screen on my Xbox One.

Just tried to play a game of FIFA and a bit of Halo. Both played for a few minutes then dumped me back to the home screen without warning then displayed a popup at the bottom of the screen saying 'External Drive Ready'. It's like it's losing connection for
a split second and kicking me out. It seems to happen too just sitting on the dashboard with a notification coming up every coupe of minutes.

Any ideas? Other seem to have everything working perfectly.

I have a WD 3TB and my problem is that games are still installing to the internal drive (Internal 89% - WD drive 11% and in the My Games & Apps in says 89%) In settings the WD drive is setup as install drive (Green in top right corner).

I'm Microsoft and Cisco Certified and have talked with Support multi times - My Xbox One has been reset to Factory 3 times.

My Xbox One and Xbox 360 are one a direct run to the power box (I also have a direct run to my Stereo and when I rock KoRn, Slipkot, or any songs @ 1500 watts with 2 15inch bass, I have no problems with power (Folks down the street might)

So I have come up with 2 ideas - 1. major flaw in Xbox One - 2. It's based off Windows 8 and I can't stand it like Vista.

I sure hope from what I here January update will be based off Windows 10 (This is what I'm on typing this as if I was on my Windows 8.1 I might get my shotgun

I have a western digital 1TB hard drive and I connected it to my Xbox one to play the movies that o had on it. Unfortunately,it randomly loses its connection to the Xbox one after random time intervals. I thought that this had to deal with the drove going
to sleep. Because initially it would lose connection after 30 minutes, which was the time that the sleep timer is set to by default. I went into the settings of the wd software that came with the drive and set the timer to never and saved the changes. This
worked for a short while, but now it randomly loses its connection right in the middle of a movie which is by far the most irritating thing. I assume it has to deal with the Xbox one OS because when I stream it from my surface with the hard drive it does not
    lose connection.

I am having the same problem. My games crash, and I get the "External storage ready for use" message. I'm using a Seagate 3TB USB 3.0 drive sold by Game Stop. Very frustrating. Hopefully an update in the near future will resolve this.

Same problem here for the past month and a half with a Western Digital 3TB. It worked fine for a couple months, but then really went downhill.

Same deal with the "External storage ready for use" pop-up happening constantly, cutting off gameplay, etc.

  14. I have a WD My Passport Ultra 2TB drive that I got after Christmas. It has worked fine until these last two days, I'll be playing a game and in about five minutes or so it crashes to home screen and a few moments later tells me "External Storage Is Ready"
I'm not sure what the deal is. I guess for now I'll purchase a new USB cable and see if maybe the one that came with the drive is just faulty.

  15. Still no fix for this?!?! I'm getting kicked out of of all of the games I bought after less than five minutes of playing! It's been months and still no word! My hundreds of pounds spent on games have been rendered unplayable!
