    Hello

    The first few days playing with my Series X I had no issue with my external HDD.

    Then for some reason the console could not detect my external HDD. After unplug it and plug it again my console keeps turning off right after. Then when I turn it on again with the HDD still plugged in, the Xbox LED blinks at times and I don't have any video
    signal on my monitor.

    It is the same HDD external I used on my One X. Samsung M3 portable 2 Tb

    Also I tried to turn off my console, remove the power cable and plug it again, then plug in my HDD. Finally when I turn on the console I got a freeze on the Xbox logo with a loud noise on the speakers.

    The console is not on energy saving mode.

    There are plenty of room around my console for proper heat dissipation.

    It's very annoying because the 1Tb SSD is already almost full with around 8 games !

    Thanks in advance to let me know if you found a workaround for this issue.

    Hey bud.. if you have a extrenal HDD connected turn your xbox off and then unplug the hdd, turn console back on and do the update.. once update finishes turn xbox off and plug back in your external hdd.. this should 100% work for you
    Thank you! My external SSD plugged into my Series X was somehow causing this issue to happen. I turned the console off, unplugged it, and now it's updating just fine.

    Do you use an external HDD? I'm sure most do. I have a 4TB external as my main HDD with every Forza on it including 5. When you get Series X, it's as simple as unplugging the HDD and plugging it into the USB on the Series X. Done. All games will be playable
    and benefit from some enhancements. (still need to see more info on this, exciting nonetheless)

    I have the same question. I have FH4 and Gears 5 on external hdd and i play on Xone X. What will happen when I plug in my external hdd to my new x series x. WIll the new concol see games already installed on my external hdd and how then smart delivery
    will work?? Must I change location of FH4 and Gears 5 from external hdd to internal ssd to use smart delivery?

    I have switched to an Xbox series X from an Xbox one S. we used an external sea gate hard drive to store games. The series x can see the hard drive but not all of the games stored on it

    What makes me think it’s a problem with the HDD is that I just plugged in another external drive that I use on a series s and the series x saw all the games stored on it. I may need to format the other hdd?
