    Series X shuts itself off while playing games


    Yes It’s well vented, plugged directly into the wall, and on a hard surface. I have also messed with (I’m not joking) every setting possible and tried every ridiculous solution (like flipping power cable).

    I have even sent my console back once and they just reset to factory settings (which I have also tried a couple times myself, on top of resting the OS). I am at a loss, I will be sending it back again soon unless anyone here can help.

    The only thing that had mildly helped is clearing blu-ray persistent storage 3 times and then restarting my console, that’ll hold off the crashes for a couple hours most of the time.

    Its really bad on grounded, borderlands 3 and now outriders, which from my knowledge all have a good amount of issues. Especially outriders currently, but most people are just crashing occasionally. My console is completely shutting off about every 20 min at its worst.

    This is my last attempt at getting outside help before I send it back a second time. And the more encouragement I get from random people the better cause I REALLY don’t want to send it away again if it’s just going to be reset.

    This has been happening to me since day one of having my Series X. It shuts off during gears of war 5 and I have also tried everything online. This is a wide spread problem and not due to just data corruption of a single game. This is a prevalent issue all over the Internet. Microsoft should take care to solve this problem when people spend $500 on a new piece of equipment and it shuts itself off while we’re playing. This is not just some random data corruption.

    For the last resort, resetting console and removing everything. This will uninstall all of your games but you can reinstall them later on.

    Hi Dereck, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

    Kindly make sure that your console is in a well-ventilated place with enough space on top, on both sides as well as on the back. Make sure that it is also plugged in directly on a wall socket.

    Once you have performed the steps above and the same issue occurs, you may need to reset the console keeping your games and apps. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, and games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

    Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

    Select Reset console.

    Reset and keep my games & apps.
