Series X/S - Calling on those who have had a shutdown issue... (A pseudo-poll for our piece...

Hello all,

I am trying to help everybody get a handle on any issues that might be occurring regarding shut downs especially after playing call of duty or Valhalla.

Specifically, try to simply answer these SIX questions:

1) Date of machine’s manufacturer

2) Did problem only begin after playing a certain game, if so name the game, if not just write “Right out of box” or “No particular game” depending on your experiences.

3) Temp info: Was console hot, were the fans quiet or loud (as opposed to what you percieve (or know) to be normal

4) Most helpful Solution: Was any resolution helpful? No need to be really detailed, many propsed solutions are posted, just give very brief one-line summary (“beta testing circle solution”, or “Ray trace off solution”, etc). Optionally you can provide
a link to instructions you found that helped.

5) Solution Result: Mention if solution was permanent or temporary and if it completely resolved the issue or only partially (i.e. could play longer before crash).

6) Did you get a replacement and if so, did it resolve the issue? (either way, mention manufacturer date of replacement console)

EXAMPLES:

Example 1:

1) Manufacturer: Nov 10th 2020

2) Apparent Trigger: Started after Valhalla

3) Temperature: normal, fans quiet

4) Best Solution: Ray tracing off.

5) Solutuion result: Permanent/Partial (slightly longer play time before failure)

6) Not returned yet

Example 2:

1) Manufacturer: Oct 20th 2020

2) Apparent Trigger: Started after C.O.D.

3) Temperature: high, fans loud

4) Best Solution: Nothing helped.

5) Solutuion result: N/A

6) Returned for replacement, so far replacement has no issues Replacement console dated: Nov 21st 2020

With some luck we may find a trend in terms of a certain batch or a certain solution that has a high probability of working.

DISCLAIMER: I am not associated with Microsoft, except as a console owner (and I will add my console to the mix when I get a chance to pull apart my entertainment center). In anycase, more info should help MS figure this out faster, at least one would hope
