    Sorry if this had been posted already. I tried searching here but couldn't find my specific issue.

    When trying to turn off my Xbox using the controller the Xbox will turn off and then instantly turns back on. This causes my controller to stay on and become unusable even though there is a solid light on the controller. It will not resync and plugging it in will not work. If I hard shutdown the Xbox and turn it back on the controller will work again without having to resync it to the Xbox. I have tried to see if things running in the background cause this, but it will do this with games running and having everything closed.

    I filed a report about it this issue, but was wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

    Here is some additional information: I have an external hard drive plugged into the Xbox, it is set to instant on, I am enrolled in the alpha skip ahead tier, and my xbox and controller are currently up to date.

    TLDR: Using Xbox controller to turn off xbox makes it turn off then back on rendering controller unusable until the Xbox is hard reset.

    Pair the controller with the console again: Press and hold the sync button on the console until the power button flashes. Then, press and hold the sync button on the controller until the lights on the controller flash.

    Mine failed once right after the update, I turned off the console, powered it back up and after the console completely powered back up, I then turned on the controller and all was good to go.

    Didn't have to resynk the controller at all.

    The headset should work on an Xbox One controller and Xbox Series S/X controllers.

    Turn off the controller by holding the Xbox button on the controller until the controller turns off and unplug the headset.

    On your console press and hold the Xbox console button until the console turns off, remove the power cord from the console, and wait 1 minute.

    Plug the power cord into your console again, turn on the console with your controller, and when you see your console's dashboard connect the headset to the controller and see if that solves the problem.

    figured it out. Xbox series X wont turn off your controller or respond to the controller once its on a off state if your console is in ENERGY SAVER mode. In order to be able to turn your xbox on with the controller you must be in STANDBY mode. Thats a stupid move by Microsoft to force you to keep wasting power in order to turn on you console with the controller.

    I have been having a similar issue after my series x goes into standby. When I turn it back on, none of the devices will connect. Is your case similar?

    I have to power of the console. Remove the power then turn on, it works fine after that.
