    Series X power on/ off chime gone


    My Series X is on the latest Alpha skip build. I've just suddenly realized there is no longer any chime sounds when powering on/ off the console and it has probably at least been a few days.

    It is possible and more likely that there is an hardware issue with the speaker that makes those chimes. Just wanted to check if anyone else is having this/ is possibly an issue due to insider updates.

    Why is my chime setting not there?

    It should be in settings/general/volume & audio/additional options & power chime is on the far right.

    Thats on a series x/s.

    To turn it off go to:

    Xbox One's Settings: Power & Startup menu. Users who don't want to hear the chime can turn it off. There's also the
    option to hear the chime only if it is powered on at the console itself or by voice command, not with the controller button.

    It is possible to disable the startup and shut down chimes int he console settings.

    Startup Chime

    • You can now modify when you hear the startup chime! You’ll find three new options in
      Settings > Power & startup > Power mode & startup.
      • On (startup chime plays anytime the console is powered on).
      • Only with power button or voice (startup chime plays when console is powered on via the power button or voice; does not play when powered on with the controller).
      • Off (startup chime never plays).
