    Series X overheating/forced shut down


    Hey all! Like many of us i wasnt abke to get the series x until much later than expected. I managed to get mine February 4th and since then have played thursday, friday, monday and now tuesday. And on each of those days my series x has decided to force shut down while playing a match of Rainbow 6 Seige for a combined total of 5 times and it shut down once while playomg forza horizon 4 too. The first day it shut down (overheated) three times across 3 or 4 matches of R6. The next day it shut down or overheated after playing forza for only a half an hour. (I didnt play during the weekend) i switched up my setup, gave it more room to breath snd plugged it directly into the wall. Then on monday it once again shut down/crashed, overheated while playing R6. Then finally, today i got on and played 3 matches of R6 and it shut down/crashed/overheated again. I finally decided to put it in energy saving mode and it still did it again. I would appreciate any and all info. Is a patch coming soon? Or is the series x just a piece of junk that you can only use to its full potentail a half hour at a time? Old games like dragon age work just fine but when i load up a X/S enhanced game im instantly on a time slot where i can only play for an hour. And my console doesnt get alarmingly hot. I can put my hand on it wnd sure its warm but nothing more than a lukewarm. It doesnt burn or anything. Im just frustrated wt this point and would like to know if this is just hiw the series x functions and i should just refund it or it microsoft is working to fix it. Sorry for the essay i just felt like i needed to fully explain the situation so im not asked more questions rather than given answers. And i know other people Are having the same issue with games like valhalla and cod cold war. Not to mention whenever i need to change my controller batteries the controller and console desync and im

    forced to unplug (restart) my console.

    So I have waited days now since your last post, I simply want to talk with a microsoft person, or explanation of how to get a ticket going for a replacement... I'm at the point of calling BBB and asking what a company must do in order to be accessible to customers... If I go to McDonald's and buy a "happy meal" and the order was wrong, I could make one call and get it resolved, and the "happy meal" was $5 not $500....

    I guess I didn't specifically state , but when I said I tried everything, that included a factory reset, and a game reinstall... Also, you "guess" I should open a ticket? To play a game for 15-25 minutes before the console homescreen and shuts off is not something anyone should have to deal with... Fine you say it's not a heat issue I'll agree to disagree, can you just explain what I need to do for the ticket, or how to talk to a tech support ? Thank you, I'll go play for another 15 minutes until it shuts down again.

    Yes, the heat is normal, you just never noticed before.

    Ventilation and power make no difference for these errors, i would suggest you reinstall the game, if that doesn’t work, do a factory reset on the console, then open a support ticket for replacement.

    It sounds like you have a memory leak issue possibly caused by corrupt game or system software. It can also be bad RAMchips. As it becomes “full”, it “pukes” by crashing and going into protect mode shutting down.

    or basically the series x is a rushed box of problems, too tightly packed into a case with one measly fan and the fact its Microsoft that can't seem to get anything working properly as per usual.

    No, as I stated it’s not overheating. It’s designed extremely well, and only needs one fan as it basically operates as a chimney.

    The pandemic interfered with every aspect of electronics manufacturing ans software production everything is behind and underdeveloped. PS5 is having the same problems. Ford can’t make cars because they don’t have chips. It’s no ones fault. Even in the best of times there are defects.

    Please reinstall the game, try other games, factory reset the console etc as suggested.
