Series X not recognizing External SSD as USB 3.0

I just initialized and formatted my External SSD (Samsung - 980 PRO 1TB Internal Gaming SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe) in my ROG STRIX ARION SSD Enclosure. I have already set the formatting drive to NTFS.

My computer recognize the SSD and even connecting the drive to my Series X, it would show that it recognized as well. However when trying to move the capture location to the SSD. I am getting the following error message:

"Try a different device. To capture game clips and screenshots externally, storage must be USB 3.0 or faster. This device is too slow. 0X80bd003b "

Double check with the SSD Enclosure specs and it confirms that it is a USB3.2 Gen 2X1

If any one can provide assistance that would be amazing.

    Thank you.!

    :)

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    Good evening

Ensure that you are using the correct USB port on your Series X. Some consoles have multiple USB ports, but not all of them may support USB 3.0 speeds. Check your Series X's manual or support website to see which ports support USB 3.0 speeds.

Try connecting the SSD enclosure to a different USB port on your Series X. If the first port you tried did not work, it is possible that there is an issue with that specific port. Try a different one to see if it recognizes the SSD enclosure as USB 3.0.

Verify that the USB cable you are using is rated for USB 3.0 speeds. Some USB cables may not be rated for USB 3.0 speeds and can cause the device to not be recognized as USB 3.0. Ensure that the USB cable you are using is rated for USB 3.0 speeds and is in good condition.

Thank You.! Turns out it was the USB cable itself. I was able to find the USB 3.1 cable that came with the SSD enclosure.

Usb 3 port is in the bsck of the console the front one is meant for controllers not hdds

Series consoles only recognize one extra drive other then storage card and the internal drive

Unlike xbox one you could have 2

Xbox Series X Seagate 2TB SSD connection weak

There isn't enough power on the bus for the card and the external guessing platter HDD

You need to get a powered USB 3.0 hub, that comes with an external power brick
This was the first time I've had issues with it. I set the system up when I had the original Xbox one around 2015 or 2016 and the USB port layout has stayed the same when I switched to the newer Xbox Series X. The only difference was the switch from a USB 2.0 hub to a 3.0 hub

Since the Xbox Series X has more up to date USB ports, I doubt it would be a lack of distributed power

    USB Port Layout:

x1 - USB 3.0 HDD plugged directly into the port on the Series X

x1- USB 3.0 Hub 4-Port (Not independently powered by a power brick)

What's the Best Storage increase for XBOX SERIES X Console

The biggest difference is that if you want to play the Series X/S version of games they must be installed on the internal SSD or the Seagate SSD Expansion card. They cannot be installed on an external USB 3.0 drive, Quick Resume will also not work with any external USB drive. Previous generation games can still be launched from an external drive.

Personally I have the Seagate expansion SSD and prefer the speed and convenience it offers knowing that no matter what I'm installing the best version of the game and able to use all the enhancements that comes from playing on a Series X. It's worth noting that for the price, it's not much more that some of the high performances SSDs available for PC but it is definitely not cheap.
