Discus and support Series X Not Installing to Proper Drive in XBoX Games and Apps to solve the problem; Quick question. I have a storage expansion card plugged into my Series X.     Series X Not Installing to Proper Drive


    Quick question. I have a storage expansion card plugged into my Series X. I selected that drive to be the default installation drive. BUT...it keeps installing games to the internal drive instead! So after they're done, I have to transfer them to the Seagate expansion card. Nothing is wrong with the expansion card, I can play games from it no problem, so that's not the issue. And again, in settings I ''selected'' the expansion card to be the default installation drive for games & apps.

    What could be the issue???

    Hi,

    Your drive will work the same on Series X as it does on Xbox One and you won't need to format it.

    However, Series X games or Xbox One games with Series X enhancements will not run from that drive and will either need to be installed internally or to an external SSD designed for Series X/S.

    Your hard drive will be too slow for Series X games. They can be stored there, but not run from there.

    Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

    You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

    As an example...

    I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

    Yes but cant install xbox series x games, they have to be installed on the ssd. All others games will and can run off of external drive

    I would buy the one x and wait for the price to come down on the series x but I'm proper ****. If i had the money then without a doubt I'd be waiting for the series x
