  1. Series X has issues with 4K HDR Blue ray movies.

I have two series X and they have the exact same issues. During playback of a 4K HDR Blue ray the picture will go black for a second or two then come back then after flashing black it will go full black but the audio is still playing. I’ve tried everything from switching from 120hz to 60hz and turning off VRR, nothing works.

I’ve been dealing with this issue for awhile now and it seems to be the Blue Ray app that’s the problem.

My Xbox one X on the exact same tv has NO issues at all. The movie plays without any issues at all. The Blue ray app description in the Microsoft store does not mention Series X or S. It seems to not be optimized for the new consoles.

Xbox Series X 4K HDR blu-ray to SDR bug

Since my TV does not support HDR, I cannot activate it and it is disabled by default.

As I really like Interstellar, it was offered to me in 4k without knowing that I do not have a 4k TV.

What I mean is Xbox series X has a very dark image with HDR blu-ray. But when I watch HDR blu-ray on my PS5 I have no problem.

I think Xbox series x is not converting HDR to SDR correctly but that the ps5 yes.

On the other hand, blu-ray 4k comes out very well on a 1080p TV.

    2001 Space Odyssey 4KUHD 0x91d70001 error 🙄

It seems to be a common problem with certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks on the Xbox One and Series X.

My Xbox One X refuses to play certain 4K UHD Blue Ray disks as well and I know it's not the disks that's causing the problem as they play on my stand alone 4K Blue Ray player.

Epson 5040UB : Your TV setup doesn't support HDR10 for gaming. Games won't be shown in HDR

Here I am a year later with the same issue, different projector. Using the Optoma UHD51A and I can watch 4k HDR movies from a 4k blu-ray disc, but the X-Box says my system is not capable of 4k HDR gaming. So, still no fix eh?

White Flickers while watching movies/streaming? 4k UHD 60hz monitor no HDR

I had the same / similar issue with my old 4K 60hz none HDR / HDMI 2.0 monitor when watching movies and some times in games with the Series X,

As soon as i upgraded my monitor to a 4K 144hz monitor that has HDR / HDMI 2.1 ports, i no longer had this problem,

I'm not sure what the problem is, but my guess is that the HDMI 2.1 port on Series X doesn't play well with HDMI 2.0 port of monitors, or it's the Series X trying to force HDR on, even if the monitor does not have / support HDR and the HDR in Series X menu's is turned off.

Xbox One S vs Xbox One Elite console

Do you have a 4k tv with HDR? Do you plan to buy a bunch of UHD Blue Ray movies? Do you want to stream 4k content (Netflix, cable channels, though they are compressed 4k)? If NO for these things, then I'd wait. Though my guess is the "scorpio" will be much
more costly than the "S" model.
