Series X Fan always running?

Yes the fan will always been on, even in low power mode but you shouldn't be able to hear it. Also the machine will still be slightly warm to touch. All quite normal.

I've noticed the same behavior with the running fan in low power mode. But I can hear it. It produces a constant buzzing tone. I've tried to record it: Klick

It is a bit annoying when the room is basically silent and you are reading a book or what not.

I have a same problème... The fan is not totaly silencious in lower power mode

Yes my Series X fan is always on, even in low power mode, the only times I ever heard it was when it was midnight, and everything else was switch off and I had my head next to the console, even then it was only just audible.

I think the reason is that when in low power mode the console can be downloading content and system updates and the NVMe drives can get a little bit toasty, so better to keep the fan going (just slightly) to keep things relatively cool.

I would say it is. Even on standby, all the internal components generate heat, so Microsoft have probably played it safe to keep the fan always on tickover.
