Series X does not retain Wi-Fi connection

Everytime I switch my console on it does not automatically connect to the Wi-Fi. It also makes some clunky noises after logging in. It will not allow me to search for wireless connections, no available ones show up. I have to go into the “add wireless network” option. It doesn’t need an SSID as I am able to skip through it and then it will connect to my usual saved connection. It only then finds the other Wi-Fi connections available. This happens everytime and both accounts that use the Xbox.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

We may need to perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

" 1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state."

None of these options worked, and my Xbox series x does connect to the Wi-Fi, I have a good connection. What’s next ?

If that worked would that prove that the Wi-Fi receiver in the Xbox is at fault ?

As my Xbox series x and Xbox one connect and play perfectly online via the same Wi-Fi

Yeah, a power surge could totally mess up the network adapter in your Xbox Series X. It’s probably fried the Wi-Fi or Ethernet parts inside, which might explain why it’s not connecting properly, even if it can still spot the Wi-Fi signal.

When you say it “finds” the Wi-Fi but won’t connect, what exactly happens? Does it give you an error, or does it just keep trying and eventually give up?

2. Check that your Xfinity modem/router is not blocking your Xbox Series X from connecting to the Wi-Fi network. You can do this by logging into your Xfinity modem/router's settings and checking the list of connected devices. If your Xbox Series X is not listed, you may need to add it to the list of allowed devices.

3. Try connecting your Xbox Series X to your Xfinity Wi-Fi network using a wired connection. If this works, it may indicate that there is an issue with the Wi-Fi signal or settings.
