Series X disc drive noise on start up

    Series X disc drive noise on start up


    Seems to be a quick jerk or vibrating noise that last a split second. Runs fine otherwise. I talked to MS support and they said it’s the disc drive looking for a disc. I don’t have any discs tho. I see others have same issue and some DONT have the issue. Which makes me confused. Why would some make the noise and some don’t? Wouldn’t that be abnormal ?

    it's completely normal and they are correct it is it looking to see if there's a disc in the drive moving the laser sled back into the home position

    Right, and I guess the reason that some make the noise and some don’t is that I guess Microsoft uses different suppliers for the disc drives? Which makes sense I guess…. It would be nice if they didn’t have to jump around suppliers.

    different suppliers would be the most logical explanation, yes

    if memory serves the Xbox 360 had two or three different suppliers,
