    Series X Audio Passthrough still not working


    Hi,

    This is sounding like a broken record now. The Audio Passthrough on the series X/S is STILL not working.

    I have the setting checked on in the audio options and it doesn't matter what app I use, I don't get any audio passthrough being active. I can turn it off and then on again and this does nothing. I've reset my xbox and this does nothing. Deleting and re-installing the apps also does nothing.

    This is on the following apps - TV and Movies, Disney+, and Netflix. The indicator that's supposed to show up on the top right of the screen (under the clock) never appears. I was living in hope that last months updates to the Disney+ and Netflix apps might make a difference, but nope.

    This is on ongoing problem for a lot of users, and there are numerous posts with people having Dolby Atmos difficulties as well.

    I can't fix this. This is between Microsoft and the app providers. Can we have some indication that Microsoft is aware of this and is working on it.

    Having the same issue. On my Series X and S yhe Passthrough will be checked but it does not bitstream the content that it reads. Disney+ Max and Netflix do not pass the audio to my receiver. Stuck with PCM no Dolby Digital passthrough! Been looking for a solution for 3 months now!!

    We recommend that you speak with our live support team. Due to the complexity of the issue, it’s best to work with them as they have the necessary tools to further diagnose the issue and provide you with a timely resolution.

    We also recommend that you report this issue with the Xbox Team.

    If you encounter a problem with audio or video while using your Xbox console, you can provide us with more detailed diagnostic logs. To do so:

    1. Press and hold the Xbox button , and then select Report a problem to launch the Report a Problem app.
    2. Select Reproduce with advanced diagnostics.
    3. Read through the details about media tracing. When you’re ready, select Start trace.
    4. On the How to reproduce with tracing instructional page, select Continue. Report a Problem will suspend in the background.
    5. Reproduce the issue that you’re having with audio or video. After you’ve reproduced the problem, press and hold the Xbox button .
    6. Select Report a problem, and then choose the most appropriate category and subcategory from each dropdown. If you’re not sure what to choose, make your best guess.
      • Selecting Cancel will exit out of your problem report and discard the media trace.
    7. If you have a game clip that also shows the issue you’re experiencing, ensure that Include game clip is selected.
    8. Enter a short title for your issue.
    9. Enter a description of your issue. Consider the following questions when deciding what details to include:
      • What is the problem or unexpected behavior?
      • What steps did you take to encounter the problem?
      • What additional software, hardware, or accessories were you using when you encountered the problem?
      • Were there any specific error codes or messages you saw when you encountered the problem or behavior? If so, what was the error code or message?

        Note You can use a USB keyboard, the Xbox Chatpad, or the Xbox app on your mobile or Windows device to submit the details of your report. If you’re using a virtual assistant such as Cortana or Alexa, bring up the keyboard for each text field, and then press the View button  to use voice-to-text.
    10. Select Submit to complete your report. It may take longer than expected to send a problem report with a media trace, as traces can be quite large.

    Were you able to resolve the issue? I'm having the same problem with passthrough not engaging properly. Was watching YouTube when the audio cut out and never came back. Only things that engage the DD+ decoder work, otherwise everything else has no sound, including my headset.

    I'm still having all of the same issues. It's getting really irritating now as nothing has been resolved.

    The only app which uses the Audio Passthrough is the 'TV and Films'. When I watch any of the films or the trailers, it always shows 'Passthrough' when you press the xbox button on the controller during playback.

    However, the volume levels are inconsistent. John Wick 4 sounded really good but only after turning up the volume by 10Db. The new Dune film was a mess as the voices totally overpowered all of the music.

    I have the continuing issue like 'David Allen8' and many other people who have posted numerous times on this forum.

    The Netflix, Disney+ and Youtube apps are not using the Audio Passthrough. The word 'Passthrough' is never displayed. Their audio is still being post processed by the xbox and it's a pain in the ****. I know this is happening as I can set the xbox to DTS and the Netflix 5.1 soundtrack is converted from the DD format - because the AV receiver is showing as DTS.

    Considering how long the Audio Passthrough has been added by Microsoft, they might have been able to sort it out by now.
