    Series X: 4K Screen Issue

I recently moved into a new apartment and have been having issues playing in 4K on the furnished TV. It’s an Insignia NS-55DR710NA17.

At first everything was fine, but one day when I was playing Cold War the screen glitched where half of it became corrupted and unusable. It only does this at 4K, so I can use it if I switch back to 1080p.

I am using the included HDMI 2.1 cable but I tried another one just to see if it would make any difference to no avail.

I have tried the following troubleshooting options:

    - Restart

    - Full shutdown

    - Full shutdown and left unplugged for 15 seconds

    - Unplugged and replugged HDMI from console and TV

    - Tested a second HDMI cable

    - Plugged console into different HDMI input(s)

    - Disabled and re-enabled pretty much all TV & display options such as allow 24hz, color depth, etc.

    - Adjusted TV HDMI options from auto to 2.0 and back again

    - Turned game mode on and off on the TV

I did get it to work again for a while by accident. I wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with the console, so I plugged it into my 1440p PC monitor and it worked fine.

When I took it back out into the living room, it worked on the TV at 4K for the rest of the afternoon and some of this morning until the console turned off from inactivity. When I turned it back on, it did the same thing again.

I have a feeling this TV might just be junk and it can’t deal with the Xbox going to sleep or something. But I want to see if there is anything else I can try. Otherwise I’ll just live with 1080p for now.

    Series X: 4K Screen Issue

Hello, how are you? My name is Mateus. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

First, welcome to the Xbox community. I'm sorry you're having this problem. I noticed that you've tried some solutions that would normally solve a problem like this.

Please try to carry out the solution below.

    Solution 1:

You can also hard reset the Xbox console and its cache. Here is how to do so:

Step 1. Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for at least 10 seconds to open the Power center.

Step 2. Then unplug the power supply from your console and wait for 3 minutes.

Step 3. Plug the power supply back into the Xbox console.

Step 4. Press the Xbox button on the console to turn it on again.

    Solution 2:

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

    Select Reset console.

On the Reset your console? screen, you'll see three options

Select to keep your games and apps so they are not deleted.

*This solution can be found on the link below.

    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne...

    Solution 3:

Try resetting your TV to factory defaults, or try resetting the settings made on it. It may be different for each tv and monitor.

*I hope this can help you.

Can i unshrink ganes on xbox series s

Yes but as mentioned you will have issues

    It upscales not native

Only the xbox one x and series x are 4k native

    https://www.tomsguide.com/face-off/xbox-series-x-vs-xbox-series-s

The reason why smart delivery compresses files because of the CPU and GPU power and storage limitations

    https://www.xbox.com/en-CA/consoles/compare

    True 4k vs 1440p

    Most.games will.only run 1080p max on series s

It will do less CPU intensive stuff like 4k streaming

    Series x does 4k 60hx with possible 120hz (dropped fps )

    Xbox one x does only 4k 30hz

My screen turn on black when i try to run a game on 120 FPS

What resolution are you trying to run at

If 4k 120 Hz then no it won't run at thaf

The max for series s is 1440p at 120hz

It will play at 4k bur only some games and with issues

The series s is meant for 1080p 120 max

    With suggested 90hz

The xbox series x and ps5 and switch pro are the only 4k consoles

One x does 4k at 30hz and ps4 pro upscales

    The upcoming X-Box Series X

Yes, I currently own an X Box One X

When does the new X Box series X release this year?

    Will it have blue-ray?

    I have a 65 inch, 4K television.

Will I see a difference in graphics with the new X Box on my 4K?
Xbox Series X will release Holiday 2020, given Xbox's track record of releasing new consoles, they've usually been around November.

    It will have Blu-Ray.

With the Xbox One X, it uses checkerboarding to get 4K resolution, though it's not true 4K, it's what allows the One X to get to 4K,

With the Xbox Series X, it will use true native 4K, you may see that the Series X will look a little better at 4K than the One X at 4K.

    Xbox One S 4K

Xbox One S is not really a 4K console,

    4K Media Content - Yes

You can play 4K Blu-ray DVD's or Streaming services like Netflix in 4K just fine if your paying the the 4K subscription options,

    4K Gaming Content - No

As for games, it only plays games at 1080p but it is upscaled to 4K, other wise a 1080p image without upscaling to 4K, will look much worst on a 4K screen than what it would do, if it was only displayed on a 1080p screen,

A 1080p image upscaled on a 4K screen does look a little better than a 1080p image on a 1080p screen, but it still a 1080p image made to fit a 4K resolution screen, which is what the Xbox One S does

    Xbox One X is a 4K console,

    4K Media - Yes

    4K Gaming - Yes

The issues is not the TV, it's the Xbox One S not being an Xbox One X.
