First off, stop copying/pasting anything of, or relating to, the following (Especially about cleaning "the disc" cuz I keep seeing this exact or some >80% identical response when others asked this very question before me):

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support. I want you not to worry about the situation because I am here to help you out! I believe your console might need either a network reset or just a system refresh. I would like you to go through the following steps to clear the Mac address and then perform a quick power cycle on your console:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

After going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned, I invite you to perform a quick power cycle by turning off the console and then unplugging all the cables. After 2 to 3 minutes, re-plug them back again, then restart your console.

Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500 (UDP).

If needed or if it’s dirty or scratched, wipe the disc with a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth. Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom faces, then re-insert it and try launching again

In case the issue still persists after the previous steps have been performed here is the official link to all the network troubleshooting steps that can help sort this out for you.

The link: Troubleshoot your Xbox One network connection | Xbox Support

In case the issue still persists, the next step would be to perform a reset on the console. To do so you will need to follow the steps below to perform a reset on the Xbox :

Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.

I have done all this and still have a very slow update download speeds. This is definitely a system issue that only Microsoft can fix because cant access any kind of Xbox Control Panel.

All I want is for me to determine when my xbox is going to use some of my PvP Matchmaking bandwidth on updates I DO NOT care about right now. I know how to check this stuff regularly and it doesn't bother me doing it manually, except when I can't get it to update at 250 Mbps, not <30 Mbps, without "pausing" it when it gets slow then immediately "resuming" every 40 seconds.

(My current network statistics, and 200-250 Mbps is typically what games will download at)

    Thanks

    :)

Shaggy2000 is spot on here. Just do a TRACERT to Google on a PC and see how hops you must go through...

Also, just because you have a large bandwidth, doesn't mean that everything is delivered to you at that high speed. Large bandwidth internet access is meant for multiple people connecting to the internet at the same time. Not for you to receive things quicker. Yes, some providers will send you things a little quicker during non-busy times, but not by a lot.

This is how the internet works, I'm afraid.

I can tell you why your updates may be slow, but you wont like it, and the reason is:

Because its the nature of the internet.

You link to your local Microsoft server isn't a one step jump, your Xbox to your internet provider and then to Xbox server. It take many many jumps to get there and so much determines the speed of your download, they can be:

1: Amount of people in your local area using the internet

2: Network traffic on any of the jumps that is between you and the Xbox server

3: Network traffic on the Xbox server

Unfortunately Microsoft can just give everybody their maximum bandwidth, if they did it would quickly grind to a halt.

Hi RobbieWinblad! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

Usually, when a new update us released, there are many users downloading the same update at the same time, this could be the reason why you are having slow download speeds

How to fix slow download speed on Xbox one S

    Hello dear Xbox support

I have a problem on my Xbox one S, the problem is slow internet speed, its between 200kB/s and 80kB/s, and the problem start before 10 days ago.

I tried to solve this problem by :

1- restarting Xbox and still download slow.

2- restarting my router but still the same problem.

3- unplug the wired cable and plug it again, but still the same problem.

4- connecting my Xbox to wifi connection, same problem.

5- testing my internet speed on my laptop by using the same cable (wired connection) and the speed is like usual 1.5 mB/s, and upload is 220 kB/s.

6- change wifi password and disconnect all devices from connecting to my internet, still the same slow damn download speed.

7- trying to test my internet speed on Xbox and my internet speed was : 9.19 mbps, and that's my natural internet speed, so the problem not from my internet provider.

8- trying to re-download the games that I want to download and updates, still the same **** download speed.

9- trying downloading new games, same slow download speed.

10- testing some DNS's, nothing new, same slow download speed.

11- resetting my xbox one S (not full reset) and trying to download games and updates, same problem.

I tried anything you can imagine, any new ideas guys ?
Now i just bought red dead redemption, imagine how time I need to download 101GB with 80kB/s speed!

There's one think I can tell is Xbox limited download speed from their servers, and I'm from morocco.

I hope I can solve this problem. and By the way yesterday I want to download microsoft edge for testing, and the download speed was the same as on my Xbox xD, 80kB/s. and I'm downloading and watching movies with 1.2mB/s
Are you connected through landline, or through a celllular service?

Since Marocco is not among the countries/regions where the Live service is supported, so how do you connect your console to Xbox Live? Through a VPN service?
