Series S getting hot on the backside

I keep everything in mind and place the console flat in a well ventilated area..the console is cold on vents and the plastic region but hot on black circle and backside...I just wanted to know about the backside...is it normal?

I suggest you look at this temperature test from Digital Foundry on the Series. (this link should be timed to that section of the video). If not it's at about 10:35 in.

As you can see the black circle is pretty hot (which is completely normal) and the rear is quite warm too.

As long as the fan doesn't become noisy and there are no warnings on-screen about overheating, everything is fine.

Note that these consoles get hot inside. External temperature aside, inside we're taking 70c (around 155f). So it's quite normal for the machine to be warm to the touch on the outside.

Heat is entirly normal.

However unlike others have speculated, the Series S is designed with a giant vent right above the heat sink for a reason, to get the heat out. Depending on what game you’re playing and whst. You’re doing, more heat is generated
