Series S bad HDR on a 4K TV

I’ve tried multiple 4K TVs in my house and while some games look ok in HDR others look like complete trash. I have a TCL R635 and a Sony x900h and with both of these hdr on the series S doesn’t look good. Lots of games look blurry including “state of decay 2” “destiny 2” and forza 4. Of the three I tested state of decay 2 looks worse than ps2 graphics with hdr enabled. The other 2 games don’t look quite as bad but all experienced the blur.

On both TVs I’ve tried multiple resolutions and the outcome is always the same, the series S is set up as 4K @ 60hz with hdr and auto hdr enabled currently. If I disable hdr then the image looks pretty clean. Don’t know what else to really do.

I’ve already factory reset, and cleared the cashe so please no comments saying to do that, thank you!

Error (91d70000) is in regards to, "4K is supported by your TV, but not at 60Hz. You won't be able to upscale to 4K, but, depending on your TV, you may still be able to play some 4K and HDR content. To see what your TV supports, choose 4K TV details."

Ok so if my tv is a 2.0 120hz tv should I set the series s to 4k @ 60 or either 1080/1440 @ 120? If the latter should I leave the box checked that says “allow 4K”?

You sir are wrong. I have a 4K HDR tv and the xbox one X looks superior to the xbox series S. Even the textures load faster on xbox one X. Series S shouldn't even be considered next gen in my opinion. Xbox Series S gives off the worse picture I ever seen. Xbox series S only has 4 terraflops. My xbox one X has 6 terraflops. So you should consider the false information you are spreading. We trying to get some real answers here

Sorry for the late reply. I have my Series S hooked up to my Fire TV in the bedroom and my X hooked up to a TCL S4 series in the living room. Neither one is idea for HDR content. At least not with the Xboxes. I tried my hand with an high end LG TV to see what HDR would look like and while some games looked better than others it was still a mixed bag. Some games will just look awful with HDR on regardless of what TV your playing off of. I really would like to do tests with a PS5 to see if I get similar results.

Awh that's a shame really. I have a ps5 currently so I'm so used to native or close to native 4k. I want to get a Series S to play Horizon 5 and have access to older games/indie titles. I don't think it's worth spending the money on a Series X yet for all I'll use it for. From what you're saying then the old games will be fine but newer harder to run titles may suffer from blur? Would you still recommend Series S regardless? Thanks
