Series 2 Elite controller- any specifics on improvements regarding known problems?

I watched the presentation on the new Elite controllers announced at E3, and I’m impressed in the complete rebuild and new features.

But more than anything else, I want to know what has been done to remedy the areas that were prone to failure in the original Elite controller.

The improvements to fix one common problem rubber grips becoming unstuck from the controller was discussed, with a redesign of the grip to have fewer points to begin separating, and research into better compounds and adhesives, which was great to hear.

Another issue, the bumpers breaking was mentioned briefly and apparently has been addressed, but they never said how.

The bumpers in the original Elite failed because they were held in position by a piece of plastic that would flex as the bumper was depressed and released.

Unsurprisingly, over time the plastic weakened and eventually broke.

What I found especially irritating is the fact that when I pulled apart the standard controller that came with my console with the intention of replacing the bumpers in my Elite, I discovered that it had a completely different design.

My standard controller had bumpers with two tabs with holes in them where they pivoted on small pins on the main body, with small steel springs to return them to position when released.

I’m hoping to hear this has returned in the series 2.

The last area, which I haven’t heard discussed at all is the anchor points for the thumbstick modules breaking, causing drift and restricting the range of motion of the sticks so that they couldn’t be pushed to the full limit
