Seperating my email from my son's Xbox gamer logon

I'm getting a little confused and would appreciate any help/advice please.

A good few years ago I set up an xbox gamer tag (if that's the right terminology?) for my son, Luke, when he was much youngers but it was linked to my Hotmail account that I've used for everything for about 10 years....

Now that Luke's a young teen he wants his own email account associated with his xbox gamer tag.

So, I've tried linking his gmail account to my Hotmail one as an alias (?) but it still means he's essentially linked to my Hotmail emails etc.

The reason I want to break the link completely is he has loads of friends that call over and they constantly log in and out of each others account.

On his own gmail that would be fine as there's no private emails etc on there, however, on my Hotmail I do have a lot of work stuff, pics and letters etc that I want to keep private.

I did suggest Luke started a new gamer tag but this was met with incredulity as he's been on the xbox a while and has various achievements and levels that can't possibly be interfered with...

So I'm trying/would like to be able to :

1. To set Luke up on xbox under his own email, no longer linked to my Hotmail, but carrying over all his xbox gaming achievements and gamer tag etc etc

2. Then have my Hotmail account as completely separate and just back to mum's email.

This way I figure even if his friends did know each other accounts/ passwords etc there would be no risk as nothing else (my 3rd party emails etc) is associated with it.

I'm not sure if this is possible or if there's any other solution but any advice would be much appreciated.

Apologies also if I've not used right experessions/terminology but hopefully this is not as confusing as I currently feel trying to sort it out

Password for Window's Live can't be recovered

I reached out to Window's Live to have my son's window's live password recovevered. We recieved an email back saying that it couldn't be recovered since his email was a school email ending in EDU. My son no longer has this email because he dosen't attend
this school any longer, it isn't active. He cannot remember his password to logon. He just loaded a year's worth of Xbox live onto this account & recieved a new xbox for christmas & isn't able to transfer his saved inforamtion over to the new xbox. Can
anyone help?

 

I get emails from my son's gamer tag

IIRC, we set my son's account and linked it to mine for parental reason many years ago. He is now 18, but I continue to receive the Xbox Live Rewards emails for his gamer tag. How can I redirect these emails to his account, disconnect his gamer tag from
my account, or unenroll my ID from Xbox Live Rewards?

There is no way to do what you are wanting to do.

Adding another Alias to the account means that he can sign in with that email and the account password and it would still bring up the same account.

DO NOT REMOVE your email from the account IF you do you will lose access to that email FOEVER.

You wouldn't be able t create him a new Microsoft/xbox account and migrate anything over to it. You can switch the Microsoft account to be set to his e-mail address. That would effectively make it his account. However, since the account has a Microsoft
e-mail (Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, etc.) that e-mail would likely still be associated with the account. You may be able to get support to migrate your e-mail address to a new Microsoft account.

Unluckly you can just change the email connected to this account... but then you have to create a new one for you!
