I'd say I partially agree. The main issue for me is the pricing; the last console MMO I played, Phantasy Star Universe, was only $10 USD a month and it didn't require a Xbox Live Gold subscription. If ESO didn't require a gold subscription, I'd be fine with
the $15 USD a month subscription fee. I can see what you're getting at though, and I think as long as you play on the same account that has the subscription, you should be allowed to use it on any platform.

If you think it's bad that you can't move your account from the Xbox ONE to the PC to the PS 4... wait until you finally deside which Platform you want to play on...

And then discover you have to pay to move your character from the American Server to the European Server because Bethesda made a big noise that you can play with your buddies anywhere in the world but were really quiet about the fact that they will charge
    you to do so.

Different character lists for different servers are to be expected. I would not expect to play the same toon on 2 servers ever. But most people make more than one toon, lots enjoy more than one server.

This would be the equivalent of them charging $15 for US and $15 for EU.

If they treated console servers as regions like they are for EU, I would be happy but the point is they are not.

    You're misunderstanding what I'm saying.

You create a character on the American servers and your character is "bound" to that server.

If you have a bunch of buddies in Europe who say "Hey, come and play a game with us" you must pay to have your character moved to that server.

If you then decide you're worried about latency and want to move back to an American Server no problem... as long as you pay... again.

This is all normal mmo behavior. If you wanna support the game you'll pay. If you don't care about it failing and becoming ftp and pay to win then wait to play it until that inevitably happens.

Wait to play it once it fails? That's sound logic right there.

  7. so you're complaining that playing the game on one system...pc, ps4, or xbox one...doesn't allow you free access to all the others? how is this a new or uncommon phenomenon? do people really have such an inflated sense of entitlement that they think companies
should/would do this? the pc version is separate from xbox, xbox is separate from ps4 and as such demand separate subscriptions.

@Bootstrap Its not free access as you'd still have to shell out the retail price for the game on each system. He's just not asking to pay multiple subscription fees for character usage on different systems. I know I wouldn't subscribe to Netflix or CrunchyRoll
if I had to pay separate subscription fees to watch them on PS3, 360, PC and my IPad. I don't believe FFXIV has this problem between PS3, PC and its release on PS4. One sub for all platforms.

@BurstAxe- Yes it is sound logic given the state of the MMO genre. Charging a subscription fee is a sure way to make your game fail. If Star Wars/D&D and Star Trek couldn't pull it off there's almost no way ES can. So a smart customer would wait for the
inevitable switch to FTP instead of wasting hundreds of dollars on one game that will probably be like most other recent MMOs. The best we can hope for is it not turning into P2W, which is a long shot.

  10. It's no big deal. Everything is that way, with the exception of Final Fantasy.

It's partly on Microsoft. They are very strict on how developers use Xbox Live. They like keeping it closed. MMO developers shy away from that because it prevents them from putting out updates, running their own servers, and going multiplatform with their
servers. The only exception MS ever made was with Square on Final Fantasy XI, which features the same subscription across PC, PS2, and 360 but they also denied Square the same privilage with Final Fantasy XIV, which is why they didn't make an Xbox version
because they believe in unified servers and clients across the platforms.

It's mostly a Microsoft thing and it's been around for awhile, even for non-mmos. I can't use a Battlefield Premium subscription across multiple consoles. Or anything like it.

  11. @UnyoBro I think a subscription based MMO can release and most definitely succeed. Final Fantasy is prime example. All it takes is a damn good game with constant updates and support from the developer.

Star Trek failed because it flat out wasn't that great. It was your average, run of the mill MMO. Nothing exciting about it. Star Wars was an excellent game but Bioware dragged their *** with supporting the game and people grew tired of it pretty quickly
since there was nothing to keep them going.

Final Fantasy XIV is charging and has been keeping a VERY strong user base since launch and is getting better, and will grow even more when the PS4 version hits. And this is coming from a game that had to be remade because the first version completely threw
    up on itself.

EDIT: I'm pretty confident that ESO will fail though. It looks like a fine MMO, but they are trying to appeal to the Elder Scroll audience, and that audience want the Elder Scrolls game play in the Elder Scrolls world. Not World of Warcraft with a Elder
    Scrolls skin.

You mean the FF14 that bombed epically and had to be almost totally reworked? The new version has been out for what, 6 months? Give it some time and it will certainly fail. SE needs to recoup millions from the first release on top of having the game run
at a profit currently. That's asking a lot of a genre that's falling apart, specifically subscription based mmos. To make it worse lots of fans went back to FF11 or never made the jump in the first place. If FF14 is still doing well in another 6 months it'll
    be a miracle.

    @Azrael008uk

No I understood perfectly. I would expect to work exactly like this ... what you are describing is what I want.

Try this in your scenario. You have a toon on US and you want to now play on EU starting a new toon with friends that just startes. They tell you to buy another $60 box and pay another .. different subscrption just for play on the EU. So now you bought
2 boxes and pay $30 a month to keep both active., even though you can only play on one at a time. That is what they are doing with xbox.

Now ask yourself how many ppl with pc and xbox will buy into that. Little to none for certain. If we already had a sub for pc and it allowed xbox access many of would buy another box and play there too.

IMO they are losing business and xbox server will suffer greatly because of this as no one with a capable PC will touch the xbox server now, many of us want to but waiting 2 extra months and paying double, yeah that is not happrning.

How about this, coordinate with your friends and start on the same server? If you can't coordinate what server to play on then you're probably not cut out for MMOs anyways.

I'm not sure what you just tried to say there.

What's a "toon"? These are cartoons here in Niffelheim.
