    I bought a day one xbox one on release day. I also bought the extended warranty from the MS store the day I received the console. It worked great until a few months ago. When I put in a disk in, most often it would make a grinding noise and not acknowledge
    the disk. I would have to make several attempts to get the drive ti finally take the disk. So since the original warranty was up but I still had extended warranty coverage, till 2/17 I decided I should have it repaired. Completed a service order and sent it
    off. The day it was received at the service center in Texas, MS sent me an email saying a replacement console was on it's way. I get the console back and inside is a letter saying sorry, our tech says you tampered with it si your warranty is void. I never
    did a thing to the console. Ever. Then i pull the console out of the box and the faceplate is hanging by the wires. Furious, I do the chat with customer service. At this point I had not even tried to turn the xbox on, I just wanted to know why they said I
    did something. I was offered no proof or explanation, just that the tech said so, and that's that. BUT, if I want to pay for a repair, I can send it in. I said I did not tamper with it, why would I with an extended warranty. Then i'm asked if I sent it in
    to a third party tech for repair. Again I said, why would I pay someone when i bought the warranty. The whole time I'm assured MS will take care of me, no worries and she believes me that i didn't do anything to this console. In the end customer service was
    no help at all, and I have not heard from this woman again, like she promised she would. She said she had this issue documented and would see what options were available for me. Then I try to turn on the console. DEAD. I've owned every xbox console, been live
    member since beginning, bought tons of games, and this is how I get treated? Wow.....

    Anyone have any ideas of how to go about taking this further? I also called support and got the same run around. So disappointed in MS.

    This is by no means an answer, but there has to be a call to justice. I've heard of these cases before, and It's so wrong for a business to do that to a customer. Why isn't this being made into a bigger deal? We can't just accept crap in exchange for our
    loyalty to a company. Hearing this makes me want to get rid of my Xbox, God forbid my Xbox breaks and it's MY fault. I would hire an attorney, and put in all my chips and sue the living daylights out of this company (Obviously easier said than done but in
    the end it would be worth it). Thats bad business practice, good customers don't deserve that. Microsoft, I've always love you but GET YOUR CRAP TOGETHER!

    Hi, there is little recourse I'm afraid. If the repair centre have deemed the Xbox tampered with then that's pretty much it.

    However it does make me wonder why they would send a system back in that condition, why would they even open the Xbox up, I have some theories on this as for some reason many day one owners have had similar issues as you.

    From day one systems were sent out with missing side plates etc as I know from experience. does this indicate that the manufacturing process is at fault, is it possible that internal warranty seals were left off which then leaves you in this position of
    being accused of tampering when you didn't ?

    I'm in no position to verify any of this but it does stink, I have seen cases where the warranty/serial number sticker on the bottom of the Xbox has becomes so badly scratched that the serial number is illegible and the Xbox has been returned unrepaired
    with the same letter you had enclosed.

    It's all guess work of course on my part but something isn't right when so many people have their systems returned due to tampering and they claim they didn't tamper with the Xbox at all.

    I don't know what to advise from this point on, as the repair centre have now deemed the Xbox tampered you're kind of up the creek without a paddle.

    Xbox series x not opening certain games. It just closes and goes back to dashboard with no error message. But most other games work perfectly fine

    Is not available to return. The broken Xbox. You sent me is defective and I can’t return or get a brand new one back. Thats scummy. I paid 50 dollars for warranty
