    Sennheiser U 320 + Controller with inbuilt 3.5mm socket

I've bought a new Xbox One controller with the 3.5mm socket built in, expecting my Sennheiser U 320's to just work like they do on the 360 once I'd plugged them in.

I have connected them to the controller though a 2.5->3.5 adaptor and can hear game audio, but the mic is not working.

From looking at the compatible headsets support page (Connecting Compatible Headsets | Xbox One) it seems they
are designed to take TRRS CTIA plugs.

My Sennheisers only have TRS plugs, does anyone know if this would be the cause of the problem?

Has anyone managed to use a Sennheiser U 320 with the new controllers?

    :)

Yes. A colleague uses "Sennheiser PCV 05 Combo Audio Adapter for PC Gaming Headsets" with his Xbox One controller.

setup help for Sennheiser u320 for xbox one

Another note on the 3.5 stereo to 3.5 stereo male to male cord...

Make sure that the stereo jack on the TV is the same size as the stereo jack on your headphone "in-line" volume controller. Some headphones use a 2.5mm instead of a 3.5mm. The TV is most likely the 3.5mm size.

Compare the one plugged into the TV with the one plugged into you headset "in-line" controller. If they are the same, you will have no trouble finding a 3.5 to a 3.5 (The jack on the Xbox One controller chat converter is 3.5mm also).

If one is thinner than the other, you will have to find a 3.5mm stereo male jack to a 2.5mm stereo male jack. Where I live, the only place I found one was online (eBay is where I got one).

    Hey WhatsATopher -

If you want to use your Sennheiser headset with your Xbox One console, you'll want to use an adapter. You could reach out to Sennheiser and see if they have a recommendation on how to best connect your headset to your controller.

Yes, I believe you need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack to connect the headset to the socket in the controller for these headphones to work.

I can hear myself through mic monitoring, but the people in my party can't. I've tried almost everything... Help!

Are you using a Headset adapter connected to the controller or plugging straight into the 3.5mm socket?

The new xbox one controllers now come with a 3.5mm headphone socket on the bottom of them.

    Sennheiser Xbox Gaming Headsets?

Cool! Thanks for the heads-up OP. I didn't know Sennheiser ventured into the xbox world-Sennheiser X 320, this is good news. I'm going to have to keep an eye on them for future console products.
