Xbox 1 has way more Xbox Live servers to work with compared to Xbox 360 300,000 worldwide compared to 15,000 Xbox 360 servers worldwide. Also Xbox 1 has an AMD 8 core Jaguar APU and more than double the RAM and a better RAM processor (8GB DDR3 compared to
512MB GDDR3 RAM @ 700Mhz), than Xbox 360. Even my Xbox 360 slim console takes a few seconds sometimes to bring up someone's profile in a multiplayer match. Xbox 360's UI is also web based.

M has released updates since launch to help reduce the time it takes to load different parts of the Dashboard using your controller. The Dashboard is a bit faster than what it was like at launch, especially when you sign in and it asks you to enter your
6 digit security pin, it brings up that screen much more quicker.

Speaking of bandwidth, Xbox Live Party chat works acceptable well on Xbox 360 despite peps having different broadband speeds (ADSL or Fibre) and living in different countries 1000's of kilometres away from each other.

The UI shouldn't become overly-slow in multiplayer. Take for instance the Xbox Guide menu on the Xbox 360. That uses quite a bit of bandwidth as it shows you in real time who's online, messages, etc, and it performs quite well even when busy playing in multiplayer
games. Purely put, it's not entirely what broadband speeds your ISP provides, but also "the way Microsoft has designed the operating system and software on the Xbox 1". Sure they can provide updates to improve the software performance on the console though.
Especially on a console with an AMD 8 core Jaguar APU and 8GB DDR 3 RAM.

xbox 360 was an amazing console, even at launch you could view recent players, send text, voice & pic messages instantly and really quickly, you could even view profiles ALL VERY QUICKLY while the game is still visible in the background, did i forget that
you could also play music from your streaming devices or usb devices?

the xbox one dashboard is inferior to the 360's in many ways, i do like xbox ones snap and multitasking features, surely there should be a way to implement these features.

it's really sad how their last gen dashboard is better than the new gen. ps4's UI on the other hand is almost as good as the xbox 360's, the ps4 can send voice, screenshots, & texts so QUICKLY. if it wasn't for games like gears of war & halo i wouldn't even
    consider xbox 720p

It's an entirely new interface and its programming is drastically different from the past generation of consoles, Fay. Those features will come in time, especially since people are requesting it on the new feedback site that MS has put up. In addition to
that, with the monthly updates that MS is releasing, it's likely only a matter of time. Be patient and have faith - it will come; the public demands it. sending a simple message is INCREDIBLY SLOW! ;)

I saw a "V" moderator which if I'm correct you work for M if you have V who posted on a thread about voice messaging on here and in his message he will look into the feedback section. SmartGlass is some good help when it comes to messaging. Voice Messaging
SHOULD be possible between at least ALL other Xbox 1 consoles since all Xbox 1 console use the same audio codec. Since M knows how to write code/software, and since many peps want/like it, it would be fun to send a message in more ways than just TXT. Look
at the variety of ways you can send a message on Xbox 360.

To the Op - I recommend you try giving your xbox a hard reset ( hold down the power button until it powers off and turn back on again). I was having the same problem, and also on screen notifications would just hang on the screen for ages. Doing the hard
reset fixed all issues for me and got the console working at normal speed.

i dont want to have to use smartglass to send messages, i don't need to worry about doing that on the 360 as sending a message, voice, pic & browsing through friends, party, recent players was smooth, all running on top of current session ON LAST GEN HARDWARE.

it is a joke that next gen is incredibly slow, there needs to be A HELL OF A LOT more focus on GAMERS & GAMES. this is the main reason why ps4 is crushing you microsoft
