^ You can send messages via Smartglass without disturbing what you're doing on XO. There is a separate message function that doesn't involve connecting to/going through your XO.

  2. @ Doc... Thanks, good to know.

It's sad that it's easier to message on Xbox Live using Smartglass, than it is using the console itself.

^Although, I have to agree with this completely. It shouldn't be that way at all IMO.

  3. I actually like Smartglass and think it's a 'smart', cool addition to the Xbox brand. Used it all the time while playing DR3.

But not having voice messaging capability on this "next gen" console (yet the 360 does) is a significant and note worthy step backward, in my opinion.

  5. My Xbox One works just fine with sending messages. In fact, I can send text messages with it much faster than I can with the Xbox 360 due to my finger speed. When I move the cursor around on the virtual keyboard to type, the Xbox One can keep up, but the
one on the Xbox 360 slows me down because it can't keep up.

I don't have a smartphone or tablet to use Xbox One SmartGlass, but I do have the app on my PC for when I'm on my computer across the house. I can send messages with it just fine and keep it on the message screen all of the time to check for new messages.
I imagine it works the same way for others on their smartphones or tablets. They simply turn the app on while they play on their console and whenever a message notification pops up on their TV screen, they simply pick up their smartphone/tablet to check, read,
reply, and delete. It's easy AND fast!

Alternatively, you can also use a USB keyboard, which is something I will be trying out for myself pretty soon.

  6. Unless you know of a way to replicate a messaging system that people use day in and day out on a console and control pad you will never message easier. The control pad is just too restrictive in that respect. The only thing faster than a phone keypad, is
    a USB keyboard.

It's like using the internet with a control pad versus using a mouse and keyboard. It's just naturally faster to do it the way you have been used to doing it for so many years.

You can send messages via Smartglass without interfering with anything or even having the system turned on.

i dont want to have to use smartglass to send messages, i don't need to worry about doing that on the 360 as sending a message, voice, pic & browsing through friends, party, recent players was smooth, all running on top of current session ON LAST GEN HARDWARE.

it is a joke that next gen is incredibly slow, there needs to be A HELL OF A LOT more focus on GAMERS & GAMES. this is the main reason why ps4 is crushing you microsoft

  8. sending a simple message is INCREDIBLY SLOW!

^ It is definitely one of the reasons that the PS4 will dominate the Xbox One till the end of this next gen, if MS doesn't make some significant revamps to the current state of the UI (in my opinion).

Minus the games, the Xbox 360's dashboard functionality is superior to the Xbox One's UI, overall. I can see why most 360 owners haven't made the change over yet.

once again i do not want to use the smartglass app on my phone just to send a message to a recent player, i just want to select a gamertag while in game and send them a message, it shouldn't take a whole 3 mins to bring up their profile, and we shouldn't
have to go out what's going on in the background to simply view friends or recent players.

people need to stop fanboying otherwise nothing will get fixed.

do us a favour microsoft and make it like the xbox 360 because clearly the UI devs/fanboys for the xbox one can't think for themselves to realise there's a problem.

  11. @Fayz im sure the devs realize there are issues and are currently working to resolve all of our UI woes as others have stated in this thread. Just take a few deep breaths, sit back, relax and try to enjoy the system as it evolves. I understand where your
coming from but getting upset about it can lead to Cardiac Arrest.

^I kind of feel like this. Everyone keeps saying 'use smart glass' it's much faster and easier. Sorry, but for someone who has a smart phone but doesn't use it much... it just
isn't. Simple as that. Nothing beat(s) the simplicity of sending a simple voice message or grabbing a USB KB and continuing to use the same UI for everything. Not to mention it's less distracting. At least not for me.

I have nothing against those who use smart glass and I hope it improves as well, but it gets thrown at those of us who don't use it, as a 'better alternative to how the console
does it'. Well... it's supposed to be the Xbox One... named because it's supposed to be the 'All in One' home entertainment system. Why then do some features not work as well unless you use a completely separate device? If it doesn't work as easily or as well
without a companion device, then the 'One' part they're talking about obviously isn't working as well as it should.

Again, I have nothing against smart glass... I just feel that it should be just what it's touted as being. A companion device that enhances the users' experience and gives an alternative
to the UI. Not as a substitute for missing and/or poorly functioning features.

There's nothing stopping you from using a USB keyboard. They work with the Xbox One.

Suggesting someone uses a superior method isn't fanboying. I personally have no issues with sending messages so I cannot ask for something to be fixed that I have no issues with.

The only time I've had issues with the UI is when trying to access it from within COD: Ghosts. I put this down to poor implementation on the developers part most likely.

It will still be a good idea for M to make a chatpad since they did so for Xbox 360. Especially for peps who don't have a smartphone/smartglass, or for peps who don't want to use a bulky USB keyboard which, no doubt, is bigger than the size of the Xbox 360
chatpad. That chatpad doesn't need to be plugged into a USB port, just the controller. It's also 100x faster (k, I'm exaggerating, but it is WAY faster than using the arrow keys with the on screen keyboard) and simply put, it's convenience. Smartphones have
CAPACITIVE touch screens which can be annoying at times since you don't have to press hard the screen easily reads touch in-put from a warm finger/arm/leg an you could make a few mistakes there especially for peps with fat fingers or are typing in a hurry.

The reason why the UI is slow is because the UI is allmost all web based, by this I mean you download from the internet all of the information that makes your UI yours. It's this that allows you to sign in to other people's Xbox One and have your UI on
    their console.

If your playing online at the time, the game will be using a lot of your bandwidth, slowing your UI down.
