  2. Downloading is INCREDIBLY SLOW

I'm sorry you are having problems downloading from LIVE, but there are current problems with the network at the moment. I was able to download a 700MB demo in just under two minutes - although I do have a 60Mb/s line.

It's likely the service you pay for is 'upto 2Mb/s' which means the speed you actually get can vary.

How long have you had this issue?

Does your ISP throttle your connection if you download a certain amount of data? Are there any caps on your connection?

Are they are other computers or consoles on your network that are on-line at the same time?

Have you contacted your ISP regarding your slow download speed?

With regards to port forwarding and such, there is no need to fiddle about with this. Regardless of your NAT type or ports you have open/closed, your speed will not be effected.

check your hard drive, test your xbox connection, powercycle your home network, or put trine 2 into your download queue from xbox.com

They will improve it. Give it time but I do agree, I am surprised that they didn't include voice/video message with the console shipping with the Kinect to begin with!

  5. If you've got a smart phone, download the Xbox One smart glass app and use it to message people. So much quicker and easier in my opinion especially during the load times.

    I find it quite handy

I hear a lot of people hated the Voice messages. Also the video thing would end bad. Cause people use the PlayStation play room which has live video. They made Porn with it

  9. You should not have to use an app from your phone to send messages to people.

Getting tired of people saying the 360 didn't have this or that at the beginning.

One has nothing to do with the other.

The X1 is a next gen console. It should have had everything the 360 had plus a lot more.

I love the Xbox too, but we really need to stop apologizing for its deficiencies.

exactly there are a lot of flaws in the dashboard for an online gamer, they should bring back the mini blade dashboard they had on xbox 360, it was fast, complete with easy voice, txt, pic messaging, recent players, friends profiles and you could still see
    your gameplay in the background.

i do not know who you hire at microsoft for UI development but they need to start actual online gamers.

  11. The sluggish/slow UI is the worst part about the Xbox One. As well as not being able to send voice messages. To add insult to injury you have to click multiple buttons just to get to where you want to go. Yes, yes I know it was built around that spectacular
piece of equipment called Kinect. Well that's going away...so what's the forward thinking plan now?

kinect is awful, i use it for just for voice commands such as 'xbox record' or 'snap' just a microphone for me.. and it's nice to use it as an alternate voice chat mic (if the game supports it which cod STILL doesn't)

  13. sending a simple message is INCREDIBLY SLOW!

Using Smartglass is infinitely better than using a control pad or keypad to send messages.

It's probably the best thing to happen to console messaging since USB keyboard support was added.

You can put the UI down to original devkits, and rushed development, etc. It will likely get better in time as games use the hardware more efficiently and as the OS is optimized more with future updates.

Even so, I would still use Smartglass. Multi tasking FTW!

  14. It's sad that it's easier to message on Xbox Live using Smartglass, than it is using the console itself.

  15. I don't get all this praise about smart glass. I've tried the smart glass on my phone and unless I'm missing something, all it does is connect to your X1 so that you can 'take over' the X1 UI. I'm talking specifically about messaging when I say this.

Is there a way to be in a game and receive a message, open it, read it and respond to it via smart glass without having to pull up the messaging app on your X1? Can you message people using smart glass 'in the background' without ever interrupting what is
    happening on your console?

My experience with smart glass is as follows: Receive message in game. Hold X (or say "Xbox Read Message"). After reading message (and deciding to reply) click reply. Put down controller and grab phone, pull up smart glass and do w/e navigating you need
to in order to get your phone screen to match your Xbox screen and then use the phone's pop up KB to type your reply.

Even with my wireless KB, it's easier than that... get message, pull it up, click reply and grab KB to type. As I said, the only reason I tried smart glass to begin with is to make messaging easier which, compared to the UI, it is.

So, unless I am missing a setting somewhere or a way to use smart glass completely in the background, without interrupting what my Xbox is doing or what's on the screen... I see nothing smart about smart glass. It's nothing more than a 'second controller'
that I have to fumble around with and put down my primary X1 controller to use. My wireless KB is quicker, larger (since I'm older that helps) and easier (since I know how to type) to use and if I'm going to have to fumble around putting down one controller
to grab another just to send a message, I'll use the KB.

Hey, I've got a great idea! Why don't they give us the option to send voice messages?
