Selling my xbox what happens to remaining live account

Ok.....I am selling my Xbox 360. I work 2 jobs and no time to play. I have it listed on craigslist so I will NOT KNOW who purchases it. I currently have 6 months left on my Xbox live account,....I had a year subscription. I want to sell this safely and
not get hacked or taken advantage of in any way. Anything I have every purchased via live, has been with Microsoft points etc. I have only purchased yearly live on a card and entered codes, so I don't believe I have any billing info on there, or credit cards
stored. So questions are:

If I have 6 months of live left, do I simply delete my gamer tag/profile and then whoever buys it can just plug it in, connect and make a new gamer tag? Or do I have to sign in on my gamer tag, make them one, then delete mine? Will the Xbox automatically
have what's left of the live subscription on there they just have to sign in?

If I don't see any credit cards or billing information on my Xbox anywhere, then there is none there, correct? (I also signed in online here and nothing is stored here.

Is that all I need to do to sell it, just delete my gamer tag and profile? Or what else needs to be done to be "safe"?

If I delete my gamer tag, will any games I have downloaded still be in there that they can play?

Old Account

Hi my old account recently got banned ,and i was just wondering about what happens to the remaining membership on this account.Also what happens to this account overall ,does it get deactivated after a certain period of time.

So what happens to my wife and kid's current profiles? Microsoft has converted them to Gold accounts for the remaining duration of what would have been my Family account. I have no intention of paying for 4 Gold accounts. If I let their accounts laps, will
they be able to recover their profiles if we don't get an Xbox One right away?

 

You would need to format the hard drive before selling it,that will delete everything on the hard drive.

Anything you've downloaded are linked to your account & not sellable.

You cannot sell your account either.

The new owner would need their own account & would have to buy their own gold,dlc etc,they would not be able to use the remaining gold time you have left.

If you have not had any credit card info linked to your account then you should be fine.

 

It is against the TOS to sell/lend/or transfer accounts or their content.

 

Homegrown - he never said he was selling his account - just the XBOX. Daft is correct - simply format the hard drive through the console and you will be fine. Best of luck to you

 

If I have $10 in Microsoft points left, those will be lost as well when I reformat harddrive, correct?

 

They will always be on your account. Although you are deleting your hard drive your account is still out there with that 10 dollars. Eventually if you do come back you should see that there still.
