Selling a Xbox One on craigslist, buyer asking for something

So this guy is interested in my xbox one, which is new, still in the box. But he wants me to send him a picture of the barcode of the box and of the receipt if they match? i can see myself that they match, but to me it is an odd request.

Anyone got tips on what to do? is there another motive behind his request?

Unless someone is specifically selling a damaged one on eBay. Craigslist, etc, it would be difficult to buy one from somewhere.

If you buy from someone selling there's on Ebay or Craigslist I guess you could see them selling for more than $500 but I doubt retailers will charge more than $500.

Maybe he wants to know if it's stolen, that's all I can think of.

 

i still have the receipt, that is no problem. Other people have said it is suspicious and not to send him anything.

 

Being able to compare the UPC on the box with the receipt wont give him any information that could harm you. Every unit in the same line, take the Sunset Overdrive Bundle for example, all have the same UPC, it's not like you're
giving him the serial number. I really see no harm in it.

 

Can you find out if a console is banned from the barcode? I don't think so, but maybe.

 

That's a typical request. People selling consoles on ebay do it all the time. The buyer just wants to make sure you have one that isn't stolen.

 

ok, that is no problem, i can provide the barcode.

 

If the serial number is on the receipt also cover that.

 

Not trying to throw a wrench in ur deal but I have read on some sites that people want the serial code to devices in order to get free access and/or steal access to charge to others... Just saying, only an opinion...
