Self regulation in Gaming Industry

Honestly if the government got involved I think it t would ruin the gaming industry. And plus the governement may not seem to involved in it all, but it is. Some games don't make it to certain regions for this fact, and guarantre if you had a game depicting
Donald Trump's death it wouldn't see the light of day.

I think the ratings board does a decent enough job. Keep government away from my games!

I think they are able to self regulate. Sea of Thieves has evolved over the past year with the alcohol content increasing it seems. Do I still think it is appropriate for younger ages, yes. I recall when the age rating system hit and I worked at a video
game store. Parents were upset at me for requiring them to get out of the car and to come in to purchase an M rated game.

Hello! As a gamer and future father in about a month, i think parents must regulate the games, movies, etc that our childs play, we know them best than the PEGI or goverments, but it just my opinion. If we use common sense everything will be ok

The general sentiment seems to be that the government involvement will complicate things rather than make them clearer. I'm partial to that sentiment as all the politicians worry about is how to control and shift blame when things seems to go out of hand.
Should there be a middle ground though? Are these gaming companies so powerful now as to get away with everything that present laws allow?
