    Select buttons are not working on my Xbox one x console


    My select buttons are not working to go into any menu on my xbox one x i have to tap x and a at the same time a million times just to get it to access something... what is the freaking deal

    Looks like a power cycle can help.

    Pysically power cycle the console

    1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button
       on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
    2. Turn your console back on by pressing the
      Xbox       button  on the console or the
      Xbox       button  on your controller.

    If you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.

    Or

    Disconnect and reconnect your console's power cable

    1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button
       on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.
      Important Be sure to wait at least 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button
       on your console to turn it on.

    ive tried this this doesnt help i was able to get passed the boot up screen where it wouldnt continue to my dashboard finally by spamming x and a buttons at the same time.. but now in my main dash board nothing lets me select now

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select System.
    5. Select Console info & updates.
    6. Select Reset console.
    If it doesnt work press the x button on your xbox console for 30 seconds that what we call a hard reset and then wait like 20 second and turn on your xbox and that might help

    Ok I finally got my issue resolved. Give this a try. You have to delete the last update before the new update will work.

    On your console, go to Settings hub, and then select System.

    Select Storage.

    On your controller, press the following button sequence:

    - Press the left bumper.

    - Press the right bumper.

    - Press the X button.

    - Press the left bumper.

    - Press the right bumper.

    - Press the X button.

    You will probably be prompted. Select yes. The xbox should reset. Then try installing the update. This worked for me.
