    Seeing internet/connection drops after May 23rd update:


    After the May 23rd update, I am seeing complete network drops.

    Hardware specs of my Technicolor modem (ISP provided):

    Model: CGM4140COM

    Vendor: Technicolor

    Hardware Revision: 2.0

    Serial Number: 152930058043100639

    Processor Speed: 1503 MHz

    DRAM Total Memory: 1024 MB

    DRAM Used Memory: 639 MB

    DRAM Available Memory: 385 MB

    Flash Total Memory: 8192 MB

    Flash Used Memory: 138 MB

    Flash Available Memory: 1910 MB

    My Xbox is hardwared into my cable modem, as is my SmartTV.

    When playing games (Overwatch) or streaming (Twitch), after a certain amount of time my connections (both TV and Xbox) drop completely, as if someone is removing and reseating the ethernet cables for each device.

    I've already contacted my ISP for assistance and they did not find anything. They sent a tech out today and he also was unable to find any issue. No problems with hardware found, no issues with connections between the provider and my modem.

    I've tried new cables, power cycling, resetting, rebooting, etc.. and the issue persists. While I can recreate it, the time it takes to appear is not consistent.

    When it happens, I see a message on our TV saying the cable has been disconnected, and then it reconnects after a second or two.

    If I'm using Twitch, it errors out saying my internet connection has failed.

    If I'm playing a game (like Overwatch) it kicks me out of the game, and even out of my Live account. I can reconnect to it after 15 or so seconds, but the damage is done (disconnected from an active game).

    Something with my Xbox is causing my cable modem to flip out - I also think this is odd that it is affecting all ports on the modem, not just the Xbox port. I've even swapped which port each device is using and the issue remains.

    This only started happening after the May 23rd update.

    What is going on here?

    drops internet connection after latest upgrade

    1 minute of browsing games and the connection crashed (no other unit in the network stopped working)

    1mb of downloading game update and the connection crashes

    hard reset and try again, same result, drops connection.

    Hello. You may require an update. You should connect to an internet source (Preferably a wired connection) and update. This may be your only way. You can try resetting the router if it does not work the first time. Or you may even want to try a reliable
    friends/relatives connection to see if it works. I'll bet you that its 50% update issue and 50% connection issue. Good luck and if your still having an issue after you've tried this suggestion then just let us know. : )

    Have you tried testing your internet connection? Check the connection to xbox live using the account and also check your Internet connectivity to your gateway. Connections that are spotty may drop.

    @taidara Yeah, my internet in general is great. All my devices 2 laptops, 2 ipod touches, desktop PC, Nintendo 3DS, ect.. have great internet connection. They don't ever seem to have issues with internet with internet randomly dropping or anything. I get
    full bars with all my devices everywhere in the house. But I will try the connecting my xbox to the modem, however my internet drops after 2 hours so it may take a bit to figure it out. Thanks for your efforts thus far!

    probably try see if theirs any update for the app itself. then try also see if there is an update for your device. if that dosent work it may be something with the internet connection possibly.
