  1. Security fail PARENT WARNING

I have tried to remove my payment card from my account. When I so this I cannot dowmload "free games" sonic racing for this month. As with other "free games" payment option required to download. So I have my payment card details attached to my account.

I have security set to request passkey for sign in purchases etc. Even with these security protocals in place my 7yr old son managed to buy online content without passkey being entered.

I called support, they talked me through the security settings then asked me to try and purchase online content. I managed to do this without entering the passkey. I was asked to go back to my sign in, passkey option in settings to check it was set for passkey
required. Inhad to enter the passkey to open the settings. So confirmed passkey was ON. Went back into game and still managed to access online purchases without emtering passkey.

All this arose due to my son buying online content. This transcation was charged to my card. Xbox uk confirmed this should not happen.

My card was charged to my xbox live account which topped up my xbox live account due to insufficient funds. Then purchase was completed from my xbox live account.

Customer services will only credit the xbox live account and refuse to refund the money back into my bank account from which it came.

Yes the purchase was not authorised by me, purchase protocalls are not working and xbox support refuse to refund the money even though they have confirmed the purchase should not be possible without passkey being entered.

Two 39 min calls to uk number and automattically call cut off.

So if i leave my card on my account my son can spend my money as security protocalls dont work as they should. If i remove my card then i lose the ability to download "free games with gold" try this yourselves remove your payment method and try to download
sonic racing(its free just now). Re enter your card details then set your security to require passkey for purchases with your card. then play a game and try to purchase content. No passkey required to purchase.

    PARENTS BE WARNED

P.S. Trading standards will be involved as of tomorrow morning.

    :)

    Parental Account Loop

NO, THAT DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have access to the parental account. I put in VALID password. This doesn't work either ONLINE or on the XBOX. It is stuck in a LOOP.

    Loop:

    1. Kid logs in to Xbox live online -NOT on 360.

    2. Kid gets presented with new terms, checks box, clicks ok

    3. Warning message is presented that parent needs to approve, kid clicks ok.

    4. Sign in page for parent presented. Parent enters VALID password.

    5. new terms page presented again, parent checks agree box and clicks ok

    6. PARENT presented with warning message that parental approval is required....loop starts all over.

    Security fail PARENT WARNING

You can setup the purchase options on the account for None, Free Only or All.

You can add a passkey but you have to specify in the options to ask for passkey on purchases.

There's a security option that if you forget the passkey you can clear it out by entering the password associated with the account.

This is your account to manage and control and if the 7 year old can't be trusted to Not make purchases that involve a charge then you're going to have to keep your card off of the account to be sure.

The security does work otherwise it would fail for everyone.

Also, if you have more then one account, make sure your card isn't on any other account.

You may have setup security on your account but the security options need to be setup for each account individually.

This is why I have an email address and password that is unique to Xbox LIVE, and I do not use this combination on any other websites. Unfortunately, many people do not do this, either because they don't know the risk or are too idle to have many different
    email and password combinations.

Did you know that if you've played an EA game that you have an EA account? Did you also know that EA accounts also use the same Windows LIVE ID? If you haven't do so, go to EA, log in and change your details. Even if you don't change the email address, at
the very least change the password!

If you recently signed up for Call of Duty Elite, make sure you do the same for that too.

The best way to keep your account safe from a third party hack to insure your Windows LIVE ID is unique.
