Securing the Settings section on XBOX360

    Greetings,

Amid tinkering, googling, and talking to Microsoft Support (although I am not sure they really "got" the question I was asking given their response), I figured I would try one last place.

What I want to do is secure/password protect my Settings\System section on the XBOX360. Basically, you do not even need a real profile - you can get on the Xbox as a Guest 1, goto settings/system and mess stuff up. My youngster has gone in a few times and deleted
the Profiles off the XBOX, and its a 50/50 shot if he selects "Delete Profile and associated files" - which of course blitzed the associated saved games (and he is a youngster, so he is old enough to play E games and get around the XBOX, but the concept of
the stuff in that area is not something kids his age grok).

Now, I can always get my (and now the kids) profiles back via download from Xbox live, but that does not solve the risk to the saved games or other issues that might occur. Let me tell you trying to change the language back from Japanese to English was not
fun. I do not have XBOX Gold and the kids certainly do not need it - outside of possible save games to the cloud, it really is not something we have any use for (not a ton of multiplayer games here - nothing like overpaying for a cloud storage service that
    has very little storage).

Here is what I have done to date:

    • I have put the kids on Xbox live (not really happy that is the only solution to keep the profile around).
    • I set them up as age appropriate Xbox live (so they are protected "outside in", cannot purchase anything, etc)
    • I have turn on Family settings (basically content protection)
    • I have moved my Profile and any new save games I make to a USB drive
So at best my stuff is protected, but the XBOX itself is still at risk of the kids save games being lost, blitzing the network connection, change language, etc. Unless I completely missed it, I am just baffled at the lack of Administrator/Root control here,
especially when Microsoft wants this to be the center of family entertainment.

(as an aside, I am really surprised its not there even from hardcore gamer perspective. I could easily see a ***-off college roommate blitzing someone's saved games as revenge on a shared Xbox).

Anyway - did I miss something or is this just something that is what it is?

    :)

  3. Privacy & Online Settings problem

So on my xbox360 there is the section where you can customize your settings, or have adult, or child settings to limit what you can access.

Well I can't change my settings, they are stuck on custom when I'm trying to change them to adult. How do I fix this?

Xbox360 free Games with Gold be able to download on the Xbox one WITHOUT the need of downloading them on the xbox360 console first

    I found the proper section

This topic may be deleted (won't let me do it now)

    Connecting w/ Slim Wireless

    Hi,

Run the factory defaults setting in the network section of the Xbox, choose your wireless network and enter your security details, that's it, it should remember those settings every time then

    Cannot view custom gamerpics.

Could it be a setting in the privacy or security section that would cause this? I looked at them in nothing seems to be changed but I'm wondering if it just doesn't show it??

    Hey there KrAd70

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to hopefully access the realm that you are. I can totally understand how this could be confusing. Mojang actually has a support page for connecting to realms

    here
    that should help.

When you get the chance, give that a shot and let us know how that helped.

    Thanks
