    Hey, WellArtifact964! Those are generally grayed out when no one is signed into an Xbox Live account on an Xbox 360. It's likely that you are using an offline profile on the Xbox 360, and that's why it's showing up like that.

    Have you signed into your console with this account's email and password? Once you do, it should give you the options to access those settings, unless this account is a child account. Let me know what you see! Sections "profile", "account", "privacy" not active in the ... :)

    The error you're receiving is a generic error for account creation. Are you getting that error when you go to the Social hub and selecting Join Now next to your avatar? It appears that page needs to be updated, and I will make sure the right teams are aware
    of that.

    Open the Xbox menu, go to the sign in section (Profile & System), access settings from this tab, from settings you then access the account tab (Second from the top) and finally access Privacy & Online Safety. Note that if your account is a child account
    you will need the password set by the parent account to access your privacy settings.
