Second Xbox360 E smells. Burning/Plastic

Hello

a few Days back i bought an 360 E with 250GB HDD and two Games as a Bundle.

After it was on, i detected an smell of plastic, maybe a burning smell(Tin-solder).

I returned it back to the Dealer, i choose the same Bundle as replacement.

So, the second one has this smell also after a day of playing too.

Is that normal with the 360 "E"? There are two other Persons who called the E smells.

I stil have had Xbox 360,360 slim ,PS3 and WiiU. I never had a Console who smells like this!

Any Infos for me?

Burning smell from xbox 360

My xbox has a burning smell. auto shut-off after one hour is on but even with it off, fan still runs and smell of burning plastic fills the house. How do I fix this?

I have that too!

The first 360 E smelled like burned plastic, the whole room was full of it!

I exchange it, but the second 360 E smells the same, not so extrem, but the same smell!

I think they use cheap plastic or something, never hat that before with a new 360 or 360 S.

 

I just purchased one from DELL. Waited a few days for the "new car" smell to fade, then called MS support today (first day after holiday weekend) and they don't have a clue. I am an experienced EE, smells like a hot resistor. If a desktop or laptop PC smelled
this way I would return it immediately. Problem is you got a replacement that did the same thing. Wish I could get a good answer from MS support. The return requires re-packaging that is so complex....

You're posting in a year old topic. Yes. New electronics have a smell. It goes away.
