Second xbox, second account

As long as one console is set as home console it should work without any problems. On the home console every account could play the games. On the other console you just need to sign in with the account the game was bought.

It should, but it doesn't. Maybe it's not an Xbox issue but a game issue. I have tried all combinations of startup but the only console both accounts work on is the one I have set as "Home Xbox."

And just to clarify, when you say second account, are you talking strictly of a second "Elite Dangerous" account, or a second Microsoft Account? Just want to make sure we don't have any crossing of understanding.

You will need a second Microsoft account to utilize the Home console features, as a Microsoft Account can only be signed into a single console at a time. PC and mobile differ from this, but I don't want to further complicate this issue with unnecessary
details.

Oh, good question. I used my gmail account to create what I thought was a second Microsoft account when I only had one Xbox. When I played Elite I could use either account to play. When I bought the X I put the original S in the bedroom to play before
I went to sleep, making the X my home system. Before I set the X to "Home" I couldn't play both accounts on Elite. I kept getting the "New Purchase Detected" like I'm now getting on the S. When I set the X to "Home" I could play with either account. So
maybe the gmail account isn't considered a Microsoft account? Not sure. I have both Xbox's set to auto login to my main account. I've tried starting the game with the main account and then switching and I've tried switching accounts and then starting the
game. Neither works on the S in the bedroom. Kinda frustrating.

Ok the only way this will work for you is this we will go with this layout.

A1= has gold and digitally owns games

A2= 2nd account that you want

C1= Home console

C2= Non home console

C1 no matter what account is signed in will be able to use A1s subscriptions and play any of its digital games.

C2 In order for any other profile to use A1s subscriptions and play the digital games A1 would have to be signed in at the same time as any other account.

So if you want A2 to play elite dangerous on C2 then you would first sign into A1 on the console then switch profiles to A2 and start up the game this should then allow A2 to play elite dangerous.

For more information on
how to add a family member check out the article. Once you set up the family, try these steps:

1. Log into your Xbox profile that owns the license
2. Switch profile to your other one
3. Launch game

Try this out and let us know the results.

You should be able to. Licenses work as if you have two. One for anyone who plays on your Home console, if you're signed in or not, and two for any console that you're signed into.

I do a similar thing so I can play games with my kids. So I set
the Home console to the one I don't play on (which would be your secondary Elite Dangerous account). With that setting alone that account can use Gold and play all the games you own WITHOUT your main account having to be signed in.

You can then sign in on your console (not your HOME console) and use Gold and play all the games you own, since you're signed in.

Your Xbox Live account cannot be signed into both at the same time. The secondary Elite Dangerous account would have to be played via a second Microsoft Account because of this.
